Superformance alignment
Hello all. I'm Bruce Walsh, the newest mbr to the Tx Cobra Club and in particular, the Austin Cobra Club.
First, it was a blast meeting all the Austin mbrs at the TCCS on 10/31/09. You all made Barb and I feel very welcomed and at home. Thanks. Second, I was wondering if anyone in the Austin area has had any good experience with front-end alignments on a MKIII, and if so, where was it done? It was suggested by the guys in Marble Falls that I put some miles on the car and then look into an alignment. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. My car is a Superformance MKIII, #2546, Galaxy Blue w/ Wimbleton White stripes, roundels on the hood and trunk, yellow rookie stripes. Motor is a 351W, b&s to 427ci with 48IDA Webers built by Smeding Performance in CA. Trans is a Tremec TKO600, Deist 5-point harnesses, chrome quick lifts and roll bar, silver ceramic headers and exhausts and all the other ususal suspects. This is the second SP MKIII that I've been lucky enough to own. Anyway, thanks for your eyes and ears on this and I look forward to hearing from everyone.......... Bruce |
The alingment is very straightforward. Obtain the alignment values from SPF or your dealer and locate a competent alignment shop. They will be able to align it with no issues. Fully adjustable suspension not covered in rust or dirt, they will find it a pleasure to align. As far as waiting, it would only be for the springs to settle, I would think after shipping etc, let the engine sit for a couple of weeks and get it aligned. It is does not require any exotic tools or alingment racks, dont anyone bs you into beleiving it, should cost about $69.00

Gotta love that Galaxy blue with white stripes. If you have no other options, call Mike Mitchell at www.Vintageupgrades.com in Houston (281-441-4623). They are a Superformance dealer and Mike is a straight-shooter and a great guy.

I had my SPF #1938 aligned to the specs in the owners manual at a Christian Brothers Automotive here in Roanoke. They have State of the Art equipment and in checking on the WEB I noticed they have facilities in Round Rock and Austin. I had a 4 wheel alignment done. At least that is an option for you.
