The first Cobra I remember seeing up close was a Black 289 in spring of 1965 at an Auto X in Fresno Ca. The car was owned by Sam Cardwell who was the caretaker of several Cobras in Fresno and owned an independent British Sports car repair shop. Laguna Seca 1965, Sophmore in H/S; Cobras and Porshe 904's (or 906?) hauling ass around the old turn 2 & 3, at the time I didn't realize how special it was to be there.. |
I remember walking past a bug eye sprite around the age of 14 and thinking is that a Cobra! I later went into a show room with my dad and they had a blue one on the floor. I have never been the same since. :) Oh yea, in the 50's my grandfather had a MD-TD with wire wheels and a pull up top. I think it was green?
