1964 Shelby Cobra USRRC Roadster CSX 2557

What do you think that this 1964 Shelby Cobra USRRC Roadster Chassis No. CSX 2557 will end up selling for in Monterey at the RM Auction on Friday, August 13, 2010?

I know they have estimates from $1,200,000-$1,500,000. With the economy the way that it is, what do you think that the real selling price will be?

I was going to say it won't meet reserve, but the link says no reserve. I seriously doubt it will draw 7 figures. It has a pedigree, but so did some other 289 cars that have sold recently, and they top is about $400K. I'll give this one $750K tops.

Remember the line from Airplane? "I sure chose a bad time to quit ". Well, sure chose a bad time to sell a Cobra.

Thanks for that.. I spent a good 30min looking through that site..Love seeing the originals..

I think a lot of non-Cobra owners underestimate the collectibility of a genuine 289 Cobra race car, especially one of the cutback-door variety. With nice street 289 Cobras selling all day long at prices in the $450-500K range, it shouldn't be difficult for this car to more than double those figures. If it doesn't achieve at least $ 1 million, it will surprise a lot of people. I'm betting $1mm plus.

Hell mine are just for decorations anyway...lol. I think i might be persuaded to trade both of them. From what I understand a matching pair is hard to come by now days.

Left nut value? Depends on right nut function and potential. Otherwise...just another gonad!

Nedsel 07-27-2010 08:10 PM

If the car's owner doesn't need the cash, why not wait it out?

gthompson 07-28-2010 08:39 AM

Hi Ned

Are you going to be at the Monterey auctions this year?
