Drive to Sierra Blanca on Dec 5

Hey Charles are we still on for the trip this weekend?
Weather looks great, guys here are excited about going somewhere this weekend.

David,
I still have not received my dist. back for KC. I really want to take the ride up to S.B. to get back my confidence back but don't know when the dist. will get here. I have not been able to generate any interest from the cobra group to take the ride. Craig is having some kind of start up problems..Ron has issues on confidence on the ride up.. ect. Some times this happens or I may just find out ever one will come on Friday. I'll let you know by Friday if I can make it. %/

I understand, but I will tell you that if they will make the trip and meet with the other guys they might get some tips on fixes for some of the problems we have all been though. I hope your dist get to you so we can do this, I am looking foward to it. We all carry tool kits and spare tire pumps with us.
One thing I always tell myself is that just about any old junker will run 500 miles, just look at what is running down the highway, so then I think about all the high dollar parts I put in my car and how carefull I was building it and I know it is better than what I see running down the road!!!!!!! LOL LOL
Keep in touch and good luck.
By the way we met another cobra owner his name is Dan Duewall from Midland and he has 10000 miles on his Cobra, he drove it to Alpine and Marathon last weekend, nice guy and good looking cobra, he would have gone with us this weekend but work got in the way....

If the cobra's are not road ready we can take one of our daily drives up.

Sounds good this is an open invite to anyone that wants to make the cruise to Sierra Blanca to have lunch on Sunday Dec 5th.
David:)

David,

Well it looks like Ron Ice & my self will be the only ones going to Sierra Blanca on Sunday. We plan on leaving EP around 10:00 am. We should be at Curleys (next to Conoco gas station) by 12:30-1:00 pm. Here is my cell number (915) 328-1639. Looking for ward to meeting very one.

By the way I picked up my dist. last knight at the UPS center...has braze gear on it now. Don't think I can get her on the road by Sunday so we will take my white ford ranger.

Charles.

Charles, they say a cold front is supposed to hit Sat nite, if it does it may kill us going to Sierra Blanca, high here is 45, I will call you Sunday Morning to let you know if we are coming or not. I wil call around 8.30 or 9.00
Take care
David

ok,,it's getting wendy in EP.

James Baldwin 12-05-2010 11:33 AM

how many other Cobras are in the Alpine and EP areas? I grew up in EP, went to school in Alpine and don't think I ever saw one (but that was 20 years ago....). Nice to see the fun roads in Ft Davis and Alpine have have at least a few Cobras. I will try to bring one down someday for a cruise since one of my best friends works at Alpine HS.

davecobra 12-05-2010 05:24 PM

Hey James, who is your friend here at AHS, we have 5 cobras here in Alpine, and Charles and Craig say the have about 12 in the El Paso and New Mexico area.
We just got back from Sierra Blanca where we had lunch at
Curley's, it was a nice ride and good to meet Charles, Ron, and Craig.
Hope to post pictures tommorow. We also have 3 cobras in Midland area too.
Take Care

Thanks to Charles here is a picture of the group in SB, we had a good lunch and good time talking, was a great trip, a little chilly coming home but worth it, Charles, Ron, and Craig are true Cobra drivers, looking forward to more trips.

Wow, Alpine probably has the highest cobra per capita around. ha. My friend's name is Chuck Wilson. He is the band director at AHS (his wife Charlotte is also a teacher there) and one of the best people in the world! He just had neck surgery a couple of weeks back and I would love to have you guys drive by his house one day and rev your engines. It would cheer him up. Let me know if you are interested and I will buy you guys lunch to do it!

charles roybal 12-08-2010 04:44 PM

"He is the band director at AHS "
James is this Austin High School in EL Paso? If so we are havning our monthly Caffine & Octane this Sat. at the Starbucks in the Coronado Shopping Center. If he can make it I'll give him a ride.
Charles

James Baldwin 12-09-2010 12:16 PM

Oh Sorry Charles, I was talking about Alpine High School. Thanks for the offer though! I don't get back too much to El Paso (Graduated in 87 from Eastwood) but still have family there. Maybe I will catch a meeting with you guys next time I am in town.

davecobra 12-10-2010 08:49 AM

James, Chuck is a good friend of mine, I know him and his wife, I sold them a car. He has a nice mustang that they restored also.
If I see him I wil tell him I talked to you.
David

James Baldwin 12-13-2010 09:39 PM
