Cobras at Texas World Speedway
Members of the Houston Cobra Club visited Texas World Speedways performance driving event this past weekend. The weather was good on Saturday and perfect on Sunday (50* and low humidity). Here are a couple of videos.
First is James in his Backdraft>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCbYOue-LkY This one is me in my Backdraft>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIRgzGhK6CQ |
Wow great video mtpockets, must be frustrating when you get behind the other cars.
1) Is that factory BDR exhaust? 2) What was your top speed? |
Tws - pde
Not frustrating at all, part of becoming a better driver. Had a great instructor this past weekend, pointed out some finer aspects to driving on the track with other cars. Exhaust is not BDR factory, top speed 140 - 145 on the front straight running ccw. Cw 145 - 155. Car ran great, have some upgrades on the drawing board for the next couple months. Getting ready for '11 Big Bend Open Road Race.

Wow!
Nice Tracking video. Who is the owner/driver of the Coupe? You guys are really driving some great lines. My only suggestions are to drop down to 2nd in the carousel so you can launch down the short straight and the same in the "s's" before the long front straight. "Man up" and take turn one full out in top gear...through the transition, then brake hard and drop down to third for turn 2. It's a little scarry but you can drop several sec.s off you lap times.
Bring that Coupe to San Marcos!http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...mbs/Q-_092.jpg |
Coupe
The Coupe is owned by Ian in the HCC. It was built by Mo Muscle and is an awesome car. He ran street tires however sticky tires are on his Christmas list. After watching my video a few times I spotted a couple spots for improvement. Looking forward to our next outing, we'll post and try to get more friends to join us. Cobras owned the track and pits. We had a great setup with tents, food, beverages and on Sunday generator, heaters etc.

140mph to 145 mph, You are crazy but appear to know what you are doing and in a safe place if there is one in a Cobra. Yours is one of the best video's I have seen!!!! I watched it about 15 times. It does not appear to be overly abusive of the engine, you never hit the rev limiter and the majority of the time were in the 4-5K rpm range from what I could tell if i was reading the gauge right. I assume you still have the KC engine.

Very nice videos - thanks for sharing!
That transition from the front straight banking onto the apron is scary! Looks like you went into it a little hot once and got squirrely. Pucker factor must have been slightly elevated... ? . |
Here's a link to me chasing Jorge that day. Don't know why video is pixellated. original was crisp. It was a great day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chSOlhGCe9Y
