Registering In Collin Co

Is there anyone with experience registering their cobra in Collin Co. It appears I need to go to the McKinney office?
I'm waiting for an appointment to get re-inspected @ the TXDOT office in Plano. One of my wipers failed to work.
I was wondering about any pitfalls or people to avoid at the registration office.

Thanks
Jeff

I live in Denton Co. and it was a breeze, my BDR mfg. title said 1965 Cobra, yours?

You probably want to read all the threads on this subject so you can just search Texas Title. Here is a good one;

Summary ..
"It's not necessary to worry about convincing DPS or the Title clerk that you have a 1965 vehicle. The law says it can be built in the current year and replicate a 1965 car. Both the inspector and the title people did not need me to tell them that. And they came up with the assembled vehicle definition, I did not suggest it. I was attempting to call it a 2007 ERA. They vetoed that and said it was "assembled."

If you have a car with an MSO, you do not need a DOT or DMV inspection. Get your insurance issued for a 1965 Daytona replica from an insurer to the hobby (like Midwest Classics), go to Jiffy Lube with that and get a safety-only inspection. Then take the MSO, inspection receipt, insurance card and your checkbook to the Collin County tax assessor office where you title your other cars. They'll title it as a 2011 ASVE and in the remarks section of the title face it will say "1965 Daytona." All legit and by the book.

I sure like what elmariachi had to say about not needing DOT or DMV inspections if you have an MSO.

Has anyone anywhere else in Texas had any problems using this approach?

Post #38 from this thread shows the relevant pages from the book I received from the Titling folks in Austin. All scenarios are covered from building from a kit of disparate parts to building a FFR-type all-inclusive kit to titling a roller like SPF.

Thank you, elmariachi, for providing those six pages.

Thanks "elmariachi" for the forms info. I've downloaded and filled out all the forms and purchased Midwest Ins.
I have an appt at the TXDOT waver station tomorrow 11am. Should pass easily now that I have both wipers working. Wasn't so sure about inspecting @ the local inspection station. Hopefully we'll have tags by tomorrow afternoon.
High anxiety situation. Now if I can get the fuel sending unit to calibrate correctly???
Thanks again
Jeff
