Hi Tech 427 on E*ay;what's it worth?

Item# 300536395307

Two days left, only one bid...$1K
What do these things normally go for on the used market? $10K?

Michigan is too far away for any serious consideration, but thought I would ask a "value-laden" question...ha ha

Hi Tech and Exact Carbon are separate companies--correct?; or is it old and new companies?

Best,
Paul

Hi Tech is no longer. They did make a very top notch replica in the day. He is a little sparse with details and pictures about it on the e-bay ad although he says to call. It's actually quite confusing to me and I'm very familiar with the cars. It should have an aluminum cockpit and fibreglass footboxes and a trunk tub (singular) in fibreglass for a street car or aluminum for SC. They are basically an original 60's type Cobra with a glass body, though they did a small number of ally cars, and some glass cars with ally hood, trunk and doors. Exact has no affiliation with Hi Tech. I would guess it's about 6K worth of chassis if it includes all panel frames and hinges and about 3K for the body. Suspension is hard to say what he has or what it's worth. There's trucking companies that could economically move it for you. All parts are available to finish the car out also.

Yeah, if it could be bought for under $8000, I'd say it a pretty good deal. Does say it's local pickup only. Anything it doesn't have can still be bought as Nick says.
Too bad it doesn't have a differential.

He has one of Hi Tech's ford 9 inch diffs for extra $. Some thing not right with the body, it may be one of Hi Tech's early ones or some other but the lower body edge and outriggers on the frame are not like the Hi Tech's I have seen and worked on.
Bird cage that supports the body is different also.
Looks like a lot of work to me for the money he is talking.

Can't find it using the ebay search function and the number posted. Anyone got a link?

You know, your right now that I look at the photo again. The lower edge of the body between the fenders is straight across. Hi Techs weren't like that.
Interesting!

I notice it's listed again. I did some checking, it is a Hi Tech but it's an older model from before the mold was made from CSX3190. He also has the modified IRS 9" for sale as well as some other Cobra stuff.

Reading the ad, he lists "hood and trunk lid included" but nothing about doors? Might not be easy to find doors to fit this body as they are a different size from most kits, including the Shelby 4000.....

Different Hi Tech company

It shows a door on the car lining up in pretty good shape. Looks like it's worth a look for someone. Especially with him listing that 9" set up for it even with the drag racin gears.

Three Peaks 04-10-2011 10:19 PM

For some reason, when I saw the ad I thought that dark area where the door is was just a blank space. Guess I need to clean my glasses...... :)

The lister of this auction is just plain lazy - only 1 photo and almost NO detail. --

could be a good deal, could suck--

at least it didnt go through a hurricane.
