And a thread like this is always going to have comments from both Chevy and Ford 'enthusiasts'. That surely is part of the light-hearted entertainment that often features on this forum? But...the OP was "Would you buy a cobra with a Chevy 350 and fiberglass cracks that need repair if it was cheap?" Why get annoyed by what has been labelled 'ill will' when most posters are just doing what was asked by the OP, and giving their opinion? **) Cheers! Glen |
YES, I would.
|
NO
I would wait until a 5.7L Hemi Dodge powered cobra came up for sale. The Dodge motor is wayyy better than either the oval boat anchor or the recycled aluminium can chebby motor. |
BaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHaaaaaaaaaaa! Good one Mac!
|
Fun thread, we get to bash Chevies AND small blocks. :)
|
Well the car sold to someone else anyways! Thanks for all the opinions!

Whew, that was a narrow escape, that thang could be sitting in your garage! :)

Chevy in Cobra

Pleeeaassseeee! 95% of all the Hot Rods, Custom cars, Race Cars, etc. are made up numerous non- factory parts. "Kit Cars" are mostly non-factory parts including the cobra replica market. It's all how you look at it, I know people that have a 1932 Ford Hot Rod...and there is not one 1932 ford part in it and they say, "it's a real 32 Ford".
On the other hand, Cobra's are replicas of an English sports car with typically a Ford motor in it...cuz Shelby didn't get a chevy motor deal from GM. To stay with tridition...go Ford, but who really cares what the power is..what about the guy with the Viper in his cobra. It's all good ! :D Bill |
I wanted a ford donk, but as emission rules are a bit tight here and I didn't want any issues come rego time....
Then I happened upon a brand spankin new L76 in a cardboard box for $3500 so it wasnt hard to swallow my pride. As one guy said to me 'Paint it blue, shut the bonnet and have fun driving it, no one will know' |
So far it's about 50/50 on the engines... Almost a personal preference and I get that. To some it would be embarrassing and to others they really dont care.
|
Embarrasing ???
If I was at a car show and saw a Cobra with a Chevy engine in it, my response would be: Oh The Humanity !!! :3DSMILE:

SECOND CHANCE for all you Chubby luvers.
Here's one for the low, LOW, price of only $3,800 on flea bay. Better jump on it,,, on second thought, don't actually jump on it, you might fall through. :) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-...f63828d5#v4-32 http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._NOT_to_do.jpg |
I am a huge Chevy fan, and grew up with Chevy's, but when I went out looking for a Cobra I knew I'd rather have it Ford powered. That being said, if I could have gotten one with the LS? engine, I would have probably have done it. However I like mine having a Ford. Get what you can afford, and drive it!
