Trailer Wheel Alignment in DFW?
Can anyone refer me to a shop, preferably in the North Metroplex, that aligns tandem wheel trailer axles? My car hauler has one tire that is wearing the outside edge. I suspect the axle may need to be bent a little bit.

Call Joe at Thomson Tire in McKinney. He is the best old school alignment specialist in the Metroplex.
He will direct you to the right people. I have had great work performed at Petro (sp.) Trailer in McKinney. Same day/next day work on our church's landscape trailer. These two places are within a 1/2 mile of each other so it could be easy. Paul |

I have had trailer wheel alignment done previously in Waco at Central Texas Frame and Alignment, Inc. (they also have a shop in Waxahachie) and give them a very favorable recommendation if you can't find anyone in your area. You are correct on fixing the problem...it is "doable" J |
Sort of a diagnosis
Took it to Pero Trailer Mfg in McKinney yesterday. They took the wheels off and measured the front and rear clearance of the brake drums to the frame. No misalignment evident. But the wear pattern on the outside edge of the RR tire suggests the spindle mount on that side is bent down (negative camber?) Probably due to a pothole or curb strike. I can't imagine which of the thousand potholes on Oklahoma's broke-ass US69 could have been responsible :rolleyes:
They say if the axle was bent, there would be uneven wear on both sides of the axle. Ok, they recommend a new axle. About $400, no big deal. But I might take this opportunity to upgrade to 5000# axles. I am right at the limit on these 3500's when I am at full combat load. Sam |
