Does anyone have any insight, information or experience with the Shelby licensed 1967-68 Mustang fastbacks being made somewhere in OK?

Run Forest RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the money you could get a real 65-70 Shelby instead of a rebodied 6cyl Mustang without a pedigree.

Sanderson (in Pilot Point) is one of the survivors of the Unique Performance mess. He saw the dishonest cah-cah coming down the pike and got out before it hit. Dallas Mustang is currently (or was) displaying a very sweet red flamed build of his--67 Mustang fastback.

Helpful link: Completed Projects Article

The Ok City folks got a huge media push after the Unique Performance dust settled. I'd be REAL careful with deposits and promises for something that you haven't laid eyes on. Ask for references.

Build or buy a great clone. That's what I did.

Cost me $10 to get Shelby to sign the dash panel. I hear he charges $100 - $150 for that today.

I know the guys @ Sandersons and their reputations well including one of the principals, top notch. I saw the GT500CR running the "SEMA Challange" on the Speed Channel. They've delivered several '67--68 fastbacks with a wait list of months for delivery. Pricey but it's essentially a new car wrapped by a '67-68 body. Supposedly licensed by ole Shell himself and registered in the Shelby Registry.

This may be some other registry, but it sure ain't in the Shelby American Automobile Club's World Registry.

If you want a licensed continuation Shelby Mustang contact Sean Sawyer at Revved Automotive Concepts.

The CR cars are neat, but the fact that it has a 351W for that price is a little mind boggling.

I think the term "continuation" is misapplied here...any of the restomods are a continuation of nothing.

If they are "authorized" or "licensed," it means they are able to produce a vehicle with licensed IP from Shelby.

The CSX4000/6000, etc are accurately dubbed "continuation," since they are produced by a company that carries the DNA of the original manufacturer.

I know..a nit...but worth picking.

Pardon, licensed by Shelby. I thought the cars were actually going into the Shelby registry like the Unique Performance cars.

Carries the DNA of the original manufacturer??? I didnt know that Superformance and Kirkham were part of that DNA. :)

The Unique Perf cars are not going in the Shelby American Automobile Club World Registry either.

They are not.

The DNA refers to the CSX cars currently produced by Shelby American. They are, by that fact, continuation cars.

"Each authentic Shelby G.T.500CR will be included in the Shelby Worldwide Registry."

Straight off their website. Which means----?

I would ask them.

Perhaps they mean they are on the internal list at Shelby American (no published Registry)

They are not in the SAAC World Registry.

I have a friend here in town that owns one. Took delivery a few months ago. It is a beautiful car. Like it was sais above, it is basically a new car wrapped with a '67 body. Handles great, runs great, much better than the originals. Signed by Shelby himself (big deal) and alot of money. Nice car, but I dont care what he says, its still not a Shelby. Save money and buy a nicely built clone, because that is what this is.

? I thought that Shelby used Kirkham aluminum bodies, Superformance fiberglass bodies, and Kirkham frames for the continuation cars.

Not quite like that.

Shelby uses the factory in South Africa (Hi-Tech) that happens to also build SPF as an OEM for the 'glas CSX cars, having that factory build the rollers to their (SAI) specs.

Shelby has also used Kirkham as an OEM for alum bodied cars, purchasing the raw body-on-frame, without running gear...and completing the build at SAI. They have used other sources as well for the metal cars.

So, it's kind of like a grocery store buying brand name milk or other products and putting their label on it, when they dont actually manufacture any of it. Got it. :D Please note, i am just playing around. I love all of these cars, mustangs and cobras, whether continuation or cloned, but when it comes to the cobras, I would much rather have a kirkham over a "continuation" shelby. Perhaps i am just biased after working with Kirkham and getting the pleasure of seeing and assembling their parts first hand. Or, perhaps i just dont see the extra value in relabeling a car that was manufactured by someone else.

And wow, we have hijacked the thread and are really off topic.
