Shelby GT500CR
Does anyone have any insight, information or experience with the Shelby licensed 1967-68 Mustang fastbacks being made somewhere in OK?

Sanderson (in Pilot Point) is one of the survivors of the Unique Performance mess. He saw the dishonest cah-cah coming down the pike and got out before it hit. Dallas Mustang is currently (or was) displaying a very sweet red flamed build of his--67 Mustang fastback.

I'd be REAL careful with deposits and promises for something that you haven't laid eyes on. Ask for references. Build or buy a great clone. I know the guys @ Sandersons and their reputations well including one of the principals, top notch. I saw the GT500CR running the "SEMA Challange" on the Speed Channel. They've delivered several '67--68 fastbacks with a wait list of months for delivery. Pricey but it's essentially a new car wrapped by a '67-68 body. Supposedly licensed by ole Shell himself and registered in the Shelby Registry.

If they are "authorized" or "licensed," it means they are able to produce a vehicle with licensed IP from Shelby. The CSX4000/6000, etc are accurately dubbed "continuation," since they are produced by a company that carries the DNA of the original manufacturer. I know..a nit...but worth picking. |
Pardon, licensed by Shelby. I thought the cars were actually going into the Shelby registry like the Unique Performance cars.
Carries the DNA of the original manufacturer??? I didnt know that Superformance and Kirkham were part of that DNA. :) |

I have a friend here in town that owns one. Took delivery a few months ago. It is a beautiful car. Like it was sais above, it is basically a new car wrapped with a '67 body. Handles great, runs great, much better than the originals. Signed by Shelby himself (big deal) and alot of money. Nice car, but I dont care what he says, its still not a Shelby. Save money and buy a nicely built clone, because that is what this is.

So, it's kind of like a grocery store buying brand name milk or other products and putting their label on it, when they dont actually manufacture any of it. Got it. :D Please note, i am just playing around. I love all of these cars, mustangs and cobras, whether continuation or cloned, but when it comes to the cobras, I would much rather have a kirkham over a "continuation" shelby. Perhaps i am just biased after working with Kirkham and getting the pleasure of seeing and assembling their parts first hand. Or, perhaps i just dont see the extra value in relabeling a car that was manufactured by someone else.
