Visiting new Hurricane owner in San Antonio this Saturday

I will be visiting the home/garage of a new, second generation (HM2xxxx) Hurricane owner this Saturday in San Antonio. He has graciously extended the invitation to any TCC members that would like to join me. He currently has the engine/tranny installed, and suspension, wheels/tires mounted. So this would be a great opportunity to see how the new Hurricane components look unassembled, the body as it comes, etc. For privacy I'll refrain from posting his address here. I don't think he is on Club Cobra (yet). Contact me offline if you wish to join me. I'll be leaving a business meeting in Round Rock Saturday at 12:00 noon, heading down I-35 to SA, ETA 2:00pm . |
Please run your hand over the body so we know how good it is. I am interested in these and are on the top of my list for my next build. Please post a good analysis.

So who is the Hurricane builder in SA as was not aware they had some dealers out there or is this a priviate party that bought one and putting it together?

Bob, i hope you enjoy your trip! Wish I was closer so I could join you. Hopefully you can make it up here soon to get the whole experiance and see the improvements we are making. I believe he is making great progress and some encouragement from others might even motivatate him more:)

My name is Russ and I am the one building HM-2005 in San Antonio, TX. Actually, in Helotes. I haven't posted on this forum but I guess it's time I should start a build thread. I'll get something started in the few days. The new generation Hurricanes are really great. Alot or improvements were made by the new owners in Iowa. For the most part, it's mostly been assembly with some minor manufacture and modification. I'll get some pix uploaded soon.
The invitation stands for the visit on Saturday or really anytime. Just let me know. |

Congrats on the new Hurricane, I have #6 over in Houston. I work in Austin and am around SA often, I would love to stop by sometime. If I can be of any help with the build let me know. I was at Hurricane two winters ago when the project started and the changes were made and you should end up with an incredible replica. There are no finer people than the new Hurricane guys. what a great trip!
Had a great time yesterday! I left my house in Midlothian at 6:30am, arrived in Round Rock at 9:30am. Finish my meeting at noon, and got back on I-35. I arrived at Russ's home at 2:00pm and we hung at in his garage ... he is building an awesome car. The body is stored on a buck and he hasn't touched it since when delivered. he's been concentrating on the chassis. You can follow Russ' build tread on Club Cobra. He patiently answered all of my hundreds of questions, and let me poke through all the boxes that came with his kit.
It so happened that Steve Sinnard of Hurricane was in San Antonio the same weekend for a convention with Bowie, their veterinary business. He wanted to take us out to dinner. We went down to the River Walk and had a a great visit. We drank, ate and talked until 11:00pm - thats when I headed back home, and pulled in my driveway at 3:00am - what a day! |

Had a heck of a time with Steve Sinnard on the Riverwalk. Hurricane is committed to make their kit the most complete on the market. They took everyone's feedback from the previous generation Hurricanes and have incorporated all the "fixes" into this new generation car. Steve was interested in even the smallest deviation from the standard build to improve their kit for future customers. First class company all the way. Russ |
Our trunk could be made in a similar style to an original S/C out of aluminum. I was going to build that into mine but the time it would take for me nixed the project. I mocked up a fuel tank though that would allow the angled trunk. Maybe that's something they should look into.
