Texas Cobra Register
iI'm considering buying a Cobra Replica that is registered in Arizona as a 1965 Roadster. I was told by a DPS representive that to register the car in Texas it would have to pass a safety inspection that would have to be conducted at the State Waiver Station and would require a working exhaust system having a muffler. Is this the experience that anyone else has had. My problem is the side pipes are straight pipes and I don't think they would be considered as mufflers.

zero problems. Take to routine inspection station, get safety inspection (12.00 dollars) since it states 65 and ask for green slip (extra $2.00). go to court house with title, green card, insurance and you are done.

Yep....as stated above Texas is one of the easy states to title a Cobra in.

Exactly..just did this last month...got insurance card to state mine as a 1966...got green (actually white) sheet (no emission check)....took down to county office to register and no problems...i did get a thing in the mail to verify the VIN which i just signed and sent back to county offices....so might ask about that when you register.
