Dfw first saturday meet...
First Saturday Meet, request for a little Carburetor Tech Help for a new member, and a group drive across the Calatrava-Designed Margaret Hunt Hill Suspension Bridge.
Putting the call out for some minor wrenching on a Quick-Fuel 650/750 with a stuck float or debris preventing the rear bowl from filling. Who can assist with a minor carburetor disassembly/reassembly? This would be a big assist to the owner of this new car and some other friends of ours. For eats, hoping for a place in uptown area near Lemon and 75, ie. near new member's house and convenient to Calatrava's masterpiece. Manny's Uptown Tex-Mex opens at 11:00 and the manager says they are usually slow until about 2:00pm, so good parking at 10:30. Time for anyone to head by Cars and Coffee that wants to and time to check out the carb problem. Manny's is at 3521 Oak Grove Dallas, TX 75204 Other ideas on time, place? Please chime in. |
We are in for 2 seats. Don't know the availability for assisting just yet.

I'm in. Be glad to try and help with the carb. It may just need to be disassembled, circuits blown out with air to remove trash, and reassembled. What model Quick Fuel - HR, SS, Q, P, etc?
|
For those of you up north in Plano, Frisco, McKinney....do you want to meet some where around 9:45-10am like Starbucks at Tollway and Parker or Cars & Coffee and then drive down together? Looks like we could take the Tollway down to Wycliff go east to Lemon or Tollway down to Mockingbird and then down Preston to Lemon which might be a nice drive.

Carb is likely an SS, Ken. Hoping that a quick disassembly, inspection, blow out, and/or float adjustment will do the trick.
I will PM all on the carb fix team Brian's address tomorrow. Hoping for a great turnout to welcome him and his brand new car into the group. |
Count me in for two

Hey guys,
I’m the newbie with the car troubles. The car, engine, and parts are all brand new. I just got her about 2 weeks ago. However, since I’m new, I’m just now learning about everything and would really appreciate any and all help. The car starts up just fine, but dies off anytime I let it idle down. I live right on the corner of Thomas and Hall about a block from Manny’s. I’m free anytime if you guys want to swing by either before after we grab some food in the morning. Thank you again for helping this newbie out. |
In for one. Mike is too I think.

I am so close to being on the road, but I think I'm going to come up just short.
Should be there next month for sure. Welcome bdugoni! I think you will find this to be a great bunch of guys. Hope to see you next time. John |
One please!
I'll just plan to be at Manny's at 10:30. Easy for me to zoom down 75 from McK.

Thank you guys for coming to help out. I really appreciate it. I'm excited to meet everyone. Just an FYI I don't have a lot of tools in my garage so if someone could help with bringing whatever tools you think are necessary that would be awesome. Thanks again!

It was good to meet Brian Dugoni today, and glad we could get his carb corrected.
Thought it was going to be a low turnout, but in the end I think we had seating for 24. Here are a few picts courtesy of Don from our post-lunch, post-carb tune cruise across the Calatrava: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...magejpeg_1.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...magejpeg_2.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...magejpeg_3.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...magejpeg_4.jpg |
Great turnout at lunch. Welcome to the jungle Brian.

Loved Manny's........we'll have to do that one again in the future. Glad we were able to fix Brian's carb for him. I'd recommend he check the timing sometime just to make sure it was set right when the engine was installed in the car. He has Keith Craft spec sheet that came with the engine which recommends a total timing. Should be around 34-36 degrees at 3,000 rpm on that small block 427 stroker.
