Forest Lane Cruise Reminder (June 9)

Forest Lane Cruise Reunion is Saturday Night, June 9th 7:00 'til 10:00pm.

The majority of the cruising back in the day was a large extent of the western end Forest Lane, but the reunion will be focussed between Cromwell and Josey this year.

At AER, we discussed a venue for us to hang and stage for the cruise. The consensus was Cindi's New York Delicatessen. I have never been, but those recommending the Reuben sold me.

Cindi's NY Delicatessen is located between Marsh and Cromwell at:
3565 Forest Lane
Dallas, TX 75234
New York Delicatessen & Bakery | Cindi's NY Deli

The question is, what time? Might not be a bad idea to stake out our territory and eat early before cruising. Do I hear a second for 6:00pm?

I've been away from the forum a bit, so I want to make a couple of mentions:
- Congratulations to Joe and Jerry, and you too Mike, on the acquisition of Daytona build projects.
- Recording King of the Road parts 1, 2, and 3 as we speak. I understand from Scott Black that part 4 was still in production at the time of Carroll's passing.
- I got my tickets for the Shelby 50th banquet. Call Don Arnold with SCAT if you are interested; they are capped at 125-150 attendees and are going fast.

Thanks John:

I think both Joe and I are in the inventory stage. Wow...I forgot how many boxes there are. Mike's in line to get his kit delivered in early June.

Should be a great time...

Next Forest Lane Reunion http://www.cruiseforest.com/

In the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, Dallas had its own version of American Graffiti on Forest Lane in North Dallas: a place for teens to cruise, show off their car, sneak a beer, maybe get lucky in love. Beyond regional infamy, the Forest Cruise Strip in the 1970s was voted into the top 10 cruising spots in the United States – competing with Van Nuys Boulevard in Southern California & Woodward Avenue in Michigan for cruising glory.

As with all good times, the cops eventually shut it down. Those who were there during its heyday have reached middle age — just about the time nostalgia starts to kick in.

The key area for cruising will run between Cromwell and Josey, focusing on the old Jack In The Box location (Now Tommy Terrific’s Car Wash) was located all up along the restaurant row.

We would like to encourage everyone to pack out what they pack in and be good neighbors. Previous cruise reunions have been polite, clean and family-friendly – so lets keep the spirit of the event going in that direction.

Yes I actually cruised the Forest Lane scene a couple of times in the 70's. Although I was already spoken for, my young and equally stupid buddies fantasized about hooking up with a rich and beautiful Highland Park chick back in the Forest Lane heyday. Like that would really happen in a four-door '68 Satellite!

Count me in! ( but I'm still spoken for ;)

No camera exists to capture the magnitude of the spectacle. Sorry Bob.

Some enthusiasts did attempt with a video cam; one good one on YouTube made with a roof mounted GoPro cruising slowly through a good part of the whole scene. 8plus minutes.
