in our group we have three KC big blocks (two 482s & 1 461 FEs) three 408 strokers.
all are very streetable. the 408s make 525 -535 hp & tq. easy to crank, cruise at low rpms, 93 oct gas. Most are about 4 - 5 years old and are driven weekly, year round. You will get five for Keith Craft around here. Dwight and the problems they had Keith has fixed quickly. |
I almost forgot Mike's motor in his 65 Mustang. The first KC 302 he split down the middle last year at 6800 rpms. Mike said that was good for 3 1/2 years on race tracks. This winter Keith took the rotating assembly and install it into a Dart block. This weekend Mike is at Road Atlanta. I should get a report later on him. He always runs up front.
Add him to the KC list. Dwight |
engine recommendation
Depends on how hot you want the engine to be and how many $$ you want to spend.
My first one I purchased a long block from Ford Motorsports and ran it for 4 years. Its not that hard to piece together from that point. |
