Polishing and Chroming in Austin or nearby?
My yellow-pages searches have failed me -- anyone know where I can get parts re-polished (the past polishing job has gone dull) and some other pieces chrome-plated in Austin?
Thanks, -Neil. |
Cen Tex Plating
509 East St. Elmo 512-444-4721 They are good but not the best . The best are out of state and very very expensive also turn around time is long . Mustang Mendez |
Also Mike's Polishing just west of the dam on 620. Very good, very reasonalbe, little one/two man shop.

Kewl! I spoke with Cen-Tex today. Saw some of their work, and it looks decent, though not the best I've seen. However, for something like an AC compressor, he said he would charge me $65, which I think is cheap. Problem though, as you mentioned, is that they want 4-8 weeks for this. After my 2-week valve job took 3+ months, I'm not sure I want to part with pieces of my engine for that long.
Will try Mike's tomorrow. Even if they charge more, they are so much closer to my house. Hey Tony, call me over the weekend re: your stereo. I feel like experimen.....err.....ahh.....I mean helping out. :3DSMILE: Thanks guys, -Neil. |
Tried Mike's Polishing last week while I was out of town and picked up the parts yesterday. I have 99% good things to say -- he couldn't get to it immediately, so we scheduled for when I was leaving town, and he delivered a week later as promised. He could get into some tight corners on the top of the AC compressor (1% off), BUT he told me this clearly up front. Everything else (either polished from cast or re-finished after going dull) looks excellent! And the price was very good too. For polishing an AC compressor and IAB valve, and re-polishing the upper intake, EGR spacer, throttle body and blower intake tube, he charged me $150. And he's a very nice guy to deal with too.
I definitely recommend him! These pics may not show the finish properly, but you can see it up close at the next meet... http://www.avn-tech.com/stuff/polished_01.jpg http://www.avn-tech.com/stuff/polished_02.jpg Cheers, -Neil. |
Very Cool Neil,
I'm glad he worked out for you. I'm going to take him some stuff over the holidays myself. See you soon, Charmer |
