need creative ideas for a crappy block

Starting on Cobra #3 and made the decision to finally build a small block car. Bought a 351w block off craigslist and took it to my machine shop where after cleaning and inspection they decided it wasn't worth rebuilding. This may be God's way of telling me to go back to FE's:LOL: . Anyway the guy I bought the block from was awesome and gave me my $$ back but said he didn't need a crappy block either so just keep it or take to a junk yard.

So I ask you creative Cobra guys...What creative uses can you think of for an engine block that's not going to be an engine?

Let the suggestions fly....

Hi,
Cleaned up with old crank and pistons. Sheet of glass across the top for coffee table.

Put it in a fish tank.

Nah, the coffee table is always a good choice.

Planter ?

750HP, it's funny, All 3 of the aquariums I have at home are big enough to put that block in but they are already decorated.

So far I think I'm liking the wine holder idea.

Keep them coming. I'd rather "re-purpose" rather than just throw it away.

In the Little Bay denoc on the great lake Michigan some boats are morred ( anchored by tether ) using clean engine blocks sunk in the sand.

There is always the deterant to the daughter's boyfriend...( insert any number of thoughts that might be shown, said or displayed here ).

The scrap metal cash value?

bullet testing for large cal rifles ( always fun and interesting from a learning perspective )

Welding practic?

Not to start anything, but how do you feel about your wife????

If you don't do something with it yourself and decide to recycle it to the scrap yard, it will come back as a freak'in Prius.

Dennis Mosley 12-07-2013 09:42 AM

Earl J, I just can't let that happen. That might haunt me forever.

Build a trebuchet. This is a forum for builders, right? The trebuchet was the ICBM launcher of pre-gunpowder medieval Europe. It was used to destroy castles. You have a big weight on one end of the lever and a massive object in a sling on the longer arm of the lever. You trip the trigger and you sling that engine block at the target of your choice. Some years ago a group of builders planned to launch a live cow, but PETA or the ASPCA filed suit. The builders decided to launch a decrepit grand piano instead. I'll bet that made one hell of a racket, but it could sound no worse than my sister doing scales for the piano teacher.
