Looking for help

Brent suggested I talk to you guys about helping with a new Cobra club I want to start for Minnesota. I have interest from about 12 people so I think we have a nice start for membership. He said you did a great job with the Texas club and would have good suggestions on how to start. I've never attempted a club before so any comments, ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

The key to the club is the interest in Cobras! We do not have any membership dues or any of the red tape of the club. We do elect a President just to help make some decisions but that's about it. We all pay for ourselves as we go, cruises, meets, lunches etc. We have a large group in Dallas/Ft. Worth, another good size group in Austin followed by Houston. Each area about 4 hours or so apart. Having Brent setup you site, under local clubs, is really the start. Then organize some cruises or weekend meets. One local area where you will draw the most cars. All of the three groups here, also meet one time a month, usually lunch during the fall/winter months and then breakfast in the summer. Unlike your area, we can drive most every month here, but even on bad weather days we still get together. Then we do weekend cruises (GUMBALLS) just informal get togethers to cruise around. We try to do a couple of big meets our annual one in February (Austin, TX) where we all get together for a fun weekend. Last year we had over 30 Cobras and Brent even attended. Then some track events like we go the Shelby Event in Ft Worth, Shelby Event in Tulsa etc.
The real key, again are the Cobras and talking on the website!

Good luck with you club, your welcome to attend any of our events. We love all Cobras...............

Thanks Gary, I'll have Brent open a forum for us. I appreciate the info.

Just remember its the cars that your there for (we put up with Tom because we feel sorry for his car)

Honestly we do alot of stuff together...We have a 4th of July Party and a Christmas party coming up. The key is to get together often if for nothing else but to pull and engine or work on a carb :)

Just remember to set the monthly meeting for the same time, ours is the first Saturday of the month, and then be there rain or shine, cobra or grocery getter.

The rest will fall in line because of the love of cars. Don't get frustrated if it gets slow sometimes because everyone has a life besides the cars, please tell me I am wrong!

Also try and have some good road trips...we are going to do Tulsa every year now and we just have fun (had a margarita machine in the parking lot this last year **) ) . We also get groups that just go, Gary and I went to Nationals and some others went to Run and Gun. All in All just have fun!

Both Gary and Aggie are right, it's the car's that are the common denominator. Once the group gets to know each other, the people will become the attraction :)

Here is how it happened with us:

Organized a fun weekend get-together event. Centered around a scenic site to view the cars but also included a Poker Run and cruise, a raffle for some great prizes (Finish Line and Ford were the main sponsors), and some great food.

The group was so enthusiastic that we elected a president (yours truely), selected regional reps, and came up with our name "Texas Cobra Club".

We got organized by creating our own website (by SilverCobra) with a membership directory so we could all stay in touch. And we got Brent to build us a page on CC.

Many of our other members also got involved. We created 3' x 3' vinyl banners, t-shirts, jackets, hats, and stickers - all with our own TCC artwork.

dscott, we'd love to have you attend our big Anniversary event, this coming February 22nd - 24th in Austin, to experience our club first hand. Check the Texas Cobra Club page on CC for our event agenda - coming soon!

Best of luck,

Charmer

Stretch,

You forgot about the dancing girls! That is what really got us there. :3DSMILE:
