I am full as a tick with anticipation.
Still tinkering in the garage, with last minute parts due in the morning. Word has leaked that I will be out of the office next week, which will definitely make the days in between a challenge. Looking forward to seeing our Cobra brethren from far & near, old friends, and soon to be new friends. Thanks Ken, Tom, and Steve for making things perfect once again this year. PS. I have been following this source for NCAA bracket advice. |

Changing out the rear springs today and adjusting ride hight. When I went to the QA1’s I went with shorter spring and was bottoming out on the fender. Did the oil change and lube Saturday and spark plugs and carb tune on Sunday. Waiting to see the weather before I go as far as detailing. Never did like to wax and polish would rather be driving.
Looks like we got a lot of new folks and new cars this year. Mucho thanks Ken, Tom, Steve and all the other event guys and gals for all your hard work. |
I'm ready...
Just got finished with the new fuel injection system...
I have retrofitted the carburetor with a built from scratch fuel injection system using the Megasquirt controller. This thing is awesome. It allows me to use a laptop and software to set ANY control parameter regarding the engine fuel. If anyone's interested in looking into this, the website is: MegaSquirt Engine Management Systems I bought most of the kit parts from: MegaSquirt | Engine Management System | Electronic Fuel Injection - DIYAutoTune.com Configuration software from: EFI Analytics TunerStudio | tunerstudio.com The intake, rails, and some other parts I bought from Ebay. Right now, I just have the system controlling the fuel to the engine. Ignition is still controlled by the MSD electronic distributor and MSD6a CDI box. Later though, I plan to eliminate the distributor altogether and have the megasquirt controller handle the ignition electronically. I just got the thing finished and fired up last weekend, March 8. The throttle response now is immediate. Starting the engine is so much easier, regardless of the outside temperature. No more need to let everything get up to temp for 15 minutes while I constantly play with the choke and gas pedal. I will say that there's been a bit of a learning curve with regard to all of the sensors, and the injection theory, but it's totally worth the effort. Not only does car perform better, but I have a much better understanding of how it all works. RIck |
