T5 bushing tool needed
I am just finishing up a retrofit to an independent rear suspension on my cobra. I noticed that the slip yoke on the driveshaft is badly worn and I'm replacing it. I need to replace the bushing and seal in the transmission too. This is a major job unless you happen to have a special tool for it. Does anyone by chance have one of these I could borrow? I'm working hard to get it all done before San Marcos.

it's not too hard to pull the tail shaft of the T5 to replace the rear bushing. Drian the fluid, pull the shifter, punch the pin down thru the shift rail, pull the cross member, remove the tail housing retaining bolts and pull the tail housing off. R&R the tail bushing and seal wile it's off the trans. Reinstall the tail shaft. Hardest part (not too bad) is getting the shifter block back into place on the shift rail with the detent spring and ball. I don't put in the housing bolts until I have the shaifter block into place on the shift rail. Then tap the drift pin bak into place, reinstall the bolts, etc. Just use a thin skin of RTV and let it set up for 20 minutes before reinstalling the tail housing.
