Ya know I figured that moving from the Loony bin of Denver Colorado where it is easier to title and register a cobra than a golf cart, took all but 20 minutes and one visit ( I can say that having lived there for 25 years) I mean no disrespect, but I figured Texas would have had their #$^% together for vehicle registration etc...but I forget that we're dealing with a bureaucracy and all that goes with it but this seems like someone who runs this department had their girlfriend stolen from a guy in high school who drove a cobra.

Yeah I know its for our safety, Yeah right! these cars are on the verge of killing us every time we step into one which is why I love them so gosh darn much!

Thank SEMA

Yeah, no argument about CO ;) We had a process that worked until about 2011 when SEMA came through and lobbied the legislature to adopt the "SEMA Model Legislation" for kit cars. That bill was written by the aftermarket industry for the aftermarket industry, not us hobby guys. They wrote the part about requiring inspection by "Certified ASE Master Technician", not one of the tens of thousands of TX Auto Inspection Stations. Their goal was to generate demand for ASE Training. And it has to be Master ASE, with current certs in all 7 automotive sub-systems. There can't be 50 of these individuals statewide who are current. And there is no other requirement for Master Certification, so no motivation to get trained. So the next time you or anyone goes to SEMA Las Vegas, find that guy and kick him in the knee for all of us in TX.

Sam
