DFW meeting - March
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
Well knowing, that all of us are looking forward to the coming weekend in Austin, I would like to bring your attention to another event, which is just one week ahead - the March meeting of the DFW gang. As already announced at the February meeting, we'd like to invite you to an orientation rally and an outdoor BBQ afterwards. The rally will take appr. one hour and will lead you to some interesting places in the McKinney area. We will also have trophies for the winning teams. There is still sufficient time for chatting, sitting together, eating, drinking,...after the rally at the BBQ. The BBQ at Erwin Park will be weather-independent (there's a big roof in case of rain) and we will have sufficient parking spots for our cars and they will never be out of sight. Ok, here's the deal: When: Saturday, March 2nd, 10.30 am Where: McKinney, New Courthouse parking lot (corner of Davis/Tennessee (see attached map and description below) It's pretty easy to get there: 1) take US 75 (Central Expressway) north 2) take exit 38a to Highway 5 3) stay on Highway 5 north (McDonald St) for appr. 3 miles 4) turn left into Davis St.(immediately prior to the water tower) 5) turn left into Tennessee and you reached the parking lot of the New Courthouse It would be great and ease the preparation work, if you guys could give us a heads up at the Austin event, whether you are planning to come or not. In order to cover the costs for the BBQ, we would like to ask you for 10$/person (preferably at the Austin event). Looking forward to see y'all in Austin (and of course at the rally). Ute & Thomas  |
Sounds great, Tom! I'm looking forward to it! Just wish I had a car to drive. Can I drive my 'vette if I put Ford or Cobra stickers on the sides??? Just kidding!
|
Tom,
Looks like you have a great plan setup. What kind of response did you get in Austin on this? I know last year we moved the March meeting because of the Austin event to let everyone chill out a week or two form Austin. With the cold front hitting this week we might want to consider doing this mid March. Ok Dallas members, what's your input? |
Gary,
in general, I did not have the impression, that the time frame between the Austin event and the monthly meeting is too short. It is obvious, that not all people will be available, but I think, this is true for each and every weekend. Concerning the cold front, I think, the worst will be over until Saturday. The weather forecast for McKinney on Saturday says sunny and mid-60s. So I don't think, that'll be an issue. My proposal would be to keep it as planned, but let's see the other DFW members opinions. cu Thomas |
DEX,
most of the guys know, that I have a Chevy engine under the hood of my snake as well. And still I am allowed to participate (although I had to promise last weekend, that I will have a Ford engine in my Cobra until next year's annual meeting in Austin). So whatever car you have, just bring it along and join us. We're looking forward to see you. Best regards Thomas |
Thomas/Ute, Sorry, but I can't make it.
Thomas,
I got home yesterday all pumped up about the event you are planning, then family reality reared it's ugly head. I have a High School Girls Fast Pitch softball tournament and a Club Volleyball Tournament Saturday with Lyndsie, and J.L. Long Baseball practice Saturday (John jr. made the Baseball team), so it looks like I am commited to "Dad duty" once again (actually, I Love it). I know this is going to be a fun day, and besides I don't think I could get any of Ute's questions correct anyway. Y'all have a great time. John Russell |
Depends
If it is this weekend, I will be out of town. If it is the weekend of the 9th or 16th, I would be a player.

PROBABLY WON'T BE ABLE TO MAKE IT, WE'VE GOT CANADIANS COMING IN ON THURS. THROUGH SUNDAY.

A change might be something to consider!!
Thomas/Ute,
I think you might consider moving your event back either two weeks or possibly re-schedule fro April. As we all return to sanity after the MASSIVE sensory overload that is always created at our Austin event, our history has been not to schedule anything after that event to allow recovery time. It would be a shame to schedule this type of gathering and only have a small turnout. Please give this some thought since your response to date has not been what we are used to seeing at the monthly events.......and besides that, I DO want to be able to attend what you host, but as I have previously posted this weekend is out for me. Just a suggestion, John Russell |
:( Sorry we'll be missing out, but -
Anneliese and I are still recovering from last weekend in Austin, and we will be staying at home this coming weekend taking care of much-needed projects - including finishing the overhaul of the garage with 140 cu. ft. of new cabinets... :3DSMILE: |
Thomas & Ute,
Count Donna and I in for this weekend!! Come on guys & girls the weather is suppose to clear out by Saturday and be in the 60's. I do hear that they are forecasting intermittent heavy thunder throughout the morning and early afternoon in the McKinney area. Alan & Donna |
Date change
Donna & Alan,
thanks for this encouraging reply, but having a look at the responses of the other guys so far and the weather update (we're supposed to get a rain/snow mix on Saturday morning), I really think, we should re-schedule the DFW meeting. I will post another thread in the forum in some minutes to announce the date shifting. Thomas BTW: I thought you are going to be in Las Vegas the coming wekend?? |
