Shelby Cobra Book

Got me a new book the other day. Shelby Cobra by Dave Friedman, The Shelby American Original Archives 1962-1965, ISBN 0-87938-757-2.

This book is awsome!

Collection of 270 photos, brochures, race programs, posters, and Shelby memorabilia that tells the inside story of how the Shelby team built its production cars and went racing. Never-before-seen photos of the 260, 289, and 427 Cobras, Daytona coupe, King Cobras, and Dragonsnake - as well as prototypes and special race cars.

I have that book. It is very good, but too bad they cut it off before the whole 427 generation of cars.

The Friedman book was the first to highlight memorabiia

I enjoyed the layout of the Friedman book and also lament not much on 427s. It was great the way he showed some keepsakes like the blue Shelby COBRA jacket. You might also check out Schoen's book Cobra Ferrari Wars, one of the best documented Cobra books. It runs about $100 and is still available.
