Houston April Meet
Hi Everyone,
It's close to that time again! Time to get the Cobras out and socialize with our Cobra buds! This month, RAIN OR SHINE, we are going to meet at El Tiempo Cantina located at 8135 Katy Freeway. That is the place right next to 59 diner. You would take the Wirt Rd exit to get there. Date: 4/13 Time: 10:00 Shine those Cobras up and bring them out! We will talk about cruise ideas for later in the month. Let me know soon if you plan to attend so that I know if I should try to reserve the patio for us. Heck I will even spring for the free chip and sauce:LOL:  Pass the word to those that might not get to this site very often. See you there!!! Dennis "el Aggie presidente" |
Thanks for the post Dennis. I will try to be there (will confirm as we get closer). Weather permitting, let's take a short cruise that day also. Comments?
See Ya Soon! Randy |

Dennis -
Brandy and I will be there! Let's hope for lots of sunshine, or at least, no rain! See you then. Scott, SPF #1230 / 393 |
Dennis,
I will also plan to attend with my wife Leslie. Thanks, John |
Sorry. I'm in Olympic-ville (Salt Lake City) with my car for the next couple of weeks. I think I've got about as much straightened out with my car (engine) as is going to get straightened out. The concensus now is that my cylinder walls are too thin. (Everything else seems to be in good order). In the last couple of days I have determined that if I stay under 2200 rpm (45 mph), the engine heat stablilizes at 215 (for at least 1/2 hour - haven't driven at that temp for any longer - 1 hour total run time).
Have a GREAT time. I hope to join you in coming months. I will be at the April meeting 'in spirit'. (Other than David Kirkham, does anyone know of any Cobra owners in the SLC area. I've been inquiring for a year, now without much sucess). Frank Newman |
Dennis
I will be in McAllen on business thru friday if I get back in time I will be there. Mike |
:D I'll try to make it, but can't guarantee.
I need to get busy working on my car again. TAZ **) |

I look forward to seeing everyone out on Saturday!:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:
One of our group members Mike Lind has offered up a great suggestion for after the meet. There is a show of WWII and Korean war planes over near Hobby. How about those of us that have the time, cruise over there in the cobras and show our support! I think admission is around 9 bucks. Below is the email Mike sent me. let me know what you think! We will talk more about it on Saturday. http://www.collingsfoundation.org/menu.htm 11-14 - Houston, TX - William P Hobby Airport Location: Houston Exec. (Now part of Million Air) Contact: CF West - Marleen Sharpe - 713-644-9387 ps: they will be asking for a small donation, I think about $9 message sent to me All your hard work will be on display this weekend along with the B-17 and B-24. And we have one more request of you. We need volunteers to help with the display and guide visitors. If you can stay for half a day or all day, please come out and help show off what we, Collings Foundation West, have accomplished. This is our time to shine. We are excited to have several others who will be joining us to support our aircraft display. Tentatively there will also be a SNJ, a Mig 15, and a Hiller helicopter with patient baskets like the choppers flown in the early MASH episodes. The 6th Calvery will be on hand with several of their WW-II vehicles and the Lone Star Flight Museum's 'Bomber Crew' will be manning our aircraft on the ground in full period flight gear. A Packard Staff Car is on the schedule along with a restored WW-II jeep. These along with the above, will be out on the flight line with the aircraft creating a realistic WW-II flight line. Bring your cameras! The PT boat restoration group are bringing their landing craft to display also. The Houston area Korean War Veterans Color guard will post and recover the colors Friday and Saturday. There should be some major news coverage Friday and Saturday. We have a local teacher and one of her fifth grade students going to Conroe and flying back in one of the bombers on Thursday. Her fifth and sixth grade class will also be touring our aircraft on Friday morning at 9AM. The news guys should be climbing over each other to cover them and of course ... US !!! Times are as follows: Apr 11 * 3PM to 6PM Apr 13 * 9AM to 6PM Apr 12 * 9AM to 6PM Apr 14 * 9AM to 1PM |
