Texas Title

Has anyone registered their car using the process outlined in Texas Title guide for assembled replicas? As car is registered as current year model, does it have to meet 2002 emissions? Nobody locally can answer for sure. I would think there would be a way to by-pass or get an exemption. In my part of the state, no test, just visual inspection. I got bad vibes from a well known title company. Just how hard can it be? Thanks David.

David, the best way to title the Cobras that I have found is to go through Titles Unlimited. Go to the web site and print out the form, send it with the fee and other documentation requested. In about two weeks they will send you everything you will need to title the car as 1965, 1966, 1967 or what ever year you tell them. You will be required to pass the state visual inspection: headlights, taillights, turn signals, horn and they check the brakes.
If you go with the Texas Title guide method be prepared for a long and painfull process.

David, to go through the Texas route, you will have to pass the emmissions testing required for the year of your block. Example: '68 block=no testing, 1998 block=lots of testing. I never understood this because what is to keep someone from putting a '68 block in their car then get it registered and then put a new block in it?

I understand your concern of not wanting to use T.U. after reading all the negative post on this site but, I used them and I have had no problems (yet) and I know of lots of people that have used them for Cobras and other replicas with no problems.

If you need help with anything, give me a shout.

Randy
