Electrical Help...PLEASE!!!
I'm beginning to think this day is jinxed as last year my motor went south a little over a week from Tulsa. Anyway I had not started the car since AER and decided to take it out for a cruise before the meeting on Saturday, It started fine...warmed it up and left the house. Not more than a couple of blocks from the house it just quit....pushed in the clutch and let it back out and it backfired and died again. I first thought I might be out of gas and managed to get some help pushing it back home. Put some extra gas in but still no fire. Got it in the garage checked the carb and I'm getting gas but no fire that I can tell. I'm picking up a new coil tomorrow but have no experience in checking a MSD box. I have an old style model 6400 that has the rpm module separate so that could be the problem also.........BUT being an electrical dummy and color blind to boot wiring gives me the fits. If anyone has some spare time after Saturdays meeting I could sure use some help. If anyone has any electrical testers etc....and knows how to test them please bring them. Help me obi wan as I need to get to Tulsa.
What to do....what to do??? Gary:CRY:  %/ %/   |
Gary,
I will be over there Saturday AM before the meeting to see if we can't get it going... Easiest way to check the coil is to hang the coil wire off to the side next to something metal and see if you get any spark off the wire.....if not then I would bet on the coil...remember Woodard had the same thing go wrong...if you order or buy a new one get a high vibration one from MSD.
