Insurance
Howdy, y'all!
This is my first thread so hopefully I won't cause a system meltdown. My insurance rate for my Cobra just tripled. No claims, wrecks, tickets, nothing. Company simply sent me a letter, giving me about 6-8 weeks notice, stating the increase was due to "a significant increase in the number of severe claims", and that "Hagerty Insurance has designated the Cobra Replica as a vehicle with extremely high-risk characteristics." I have several other classic foreign sports cars and Hagerty is fixin' to lose that business, too. Do any of y'all have suggestions regarding a friendly and reasonable insurance carrier? Thanks! |
Farmers did the same to me. I have contacted Dan Hardiman and will be moving my insurance to him this VERY soon. His email is dhardiman@prodigy.net or you can do a search of CC and find his phone number.
Be sure and check out the thread on Houston's September meet. Hope to see you there. |
Farmers did the same to me. Contacted Dan Hardiman and the sevice was execlent. The price and milage is very good also.

Dan Hardiman has also helped me out with insurance. Dan has been nothing but excellent and upfront with truthful answers to all my questions. Dan is a good guy, and more importantly, a Cobra owner and driver!
And no, Dan will not give me a discount for the above comments  !!! Scott, SPF#1230 |
Thanks for all of the nice comments. I too think that the other insurance companys are charging to much for insurance coverages. I will try to help anyone that I can. Scott, your check is in the mail!

All the insurance rates in Texas went up drastically, including homeowners. My AllState rate nearly doubled for both my cars. I think it is an agent by agent thing... my agent knows and understands that I would not do anything to risk damaging my showcar, and that they are so unique that they are seldom stolen, thus giving me decent rates. I have been the cause of a few accidents, but I was not directly involved --- people gawking at my Cobra and not looking where they are driving!

I just insured mine with USAA, actually one of their "partner companies" american collector insurance. no problems, other than the mileage restriction.
