My opinion
KJ,
I do not know why there is a beef with FFR's. I really don't know that there is one? I own one. I am proud of it. I get compliments on it everytime I drive it. I get bombarded with questions and people who know someone that has a real one (ha-ha). So my experience with mine is probably like those who own other brands. I chose FFR because I liked the concept (I love and have owned a lot of Mustangs) of using a one donor concept from my 2nd favorite car. Like the late model Mustangs they are good bang for the buck. I wanted to build it myself. Superformance was a big thought and a great car, but I wanted to build it. I have seen some FFRs that I would not own, nor want to ride in. I have seen other brands that I feel the same about. I have seen $50,000 plus FFR's that are as nice a car as you can own. The FFR's perform very well in competition. So in my opinion there is nothing wrong with FFR's. Cobras are the coolest cars in the world period. And that's an opinion too. Another point: This past Saturday I was in a car show at a dragstrip for their All Ford day. There were two FFR's, one Mid-states, and two Superformance in the show. All of us got a plaque (all in the top 50). We were all happy. I was the happiest because I also ran mine. No one else did, and that was there preference just like their choice of car. I ended up running my buddy every run. He owns a Hunter. I love his car too except for the 350 Chevy powering it. But he chose it, it's a Cobra, and I like it! Like Fords and Chevy's, whatever you like. Sean Moore (ex-lurker) |
This is a tough crowd! CC is an equal opportunity discriminator! But it is all in good fun.

KJ,
We have alot of fun...you should see if anyone has an open seat on Sunday for the cruise.....I am sure someone will have one...heck even Morris might...but you need to think twice about riding in a blue car...people talk about those guys. And Dennis is right...its great to be an Aggie with lots of carbs :) Matt |
The biggest plus for an FFR is the gaurenteed ability to find PARTS that will bolt on. Try THAT with some of the other brands!
To bad they don't come with a different trunk though,,,,,,,,,,,,, (just had to get in at least one "barb", lol). Ernie |
My FFR wasn't put together as well as it should be .... (doors, hood, carpet, dashboard). Daniel, I fully agree.
I have fixed it and I'm happy with it (bought it in the US as a turnkey car). |
I'll be the first to admit that the doors are a PITA to fit right. But that's one of the few issues I've had...

Unless you have an original there will always be someone who has some issue with the make of your Cobra. Even with original Cobras every one has their own preferences and opinions, small block vs big block for one. Oops shouldn't have brought that up again!. The great thing here is that there can be so much variety but at the same time such high quality and craftsmanship. I agree that due to the FFR ease of assembly, single donor and the pricing that there are probably more FFR's than others that are assembled without the care that most of us have taken with our cars. Affordability is one of the FFR strong points but is also one of the issues that has led to some of the bad opinions that people have with the FFR. Yes, I have seen more than a few FFR's with unfinished bodies, seams and all, badly painted roll bars and side pipes that are rusting. I would rather see a nicely finished car than one that was put on the road before it is truely finished, but don't forget that the owners/builders of these cars are Cobra junkies just like the rest of us and they would love to own your $100,000 Kirkham with sideoiler and toploader but for a lot of us that will just never happen. I like my FFR for what it is, affordable, lightweight, handles and brakes well and I can get parts just about anywhere. There are a lot of very nice FFR's on the road. I have entered shows with my FFR against ERA's and Superformance's and have beaten them. Don't take this the wrong way I'm not one of those FFR owners with a chip on the shoulder. I just want to see everybody continue to keep up the encouragement and help for those Cobra nuts that just don't have the same budget, ability or time as those of us who are a little more fortunate. By the way the reason that I spend time on this forum compared to the FFR forum is because of the variety you guys bring. I love the different characters and the wisdom and experience that is always there for the asking.

FFRs are fine. What I don't understand is the aluminum Cobras! Everybody knows that replica Cobras should be FIBERGLASS!
