Side Pipe Problem

The baffles came lose in one of my side pipes. The car is a Component Craft (Built in 1994). I'm not sure if a new pipe is an option yet. Does anyone know where to find a GOOD tig welder?

When the baffle came lose I drove past a guy and I think he actually spilt his coffee :p

I'd start with a muffler shop first!

Then try some welding shops!

Where in Dallas do you live!

I live in Frisco. My concern is that most welding shops us Arc Welders and that's to messy.

This is what I did on a set of pipes....drilled 2 small holes, about a foot apart on the bottom of the pipe. Then tacked the baffle to the pipe, and filled the holes. Used a grinder to take care of extra fill. Put pipes back on car and you'll never see. You need to tack both ends of the baffle. Only tacked one end first, and other end still made noise....

Did your baffle become entirely dislodged? Mine has, and when I drive my car it sounds like the freakin Russians are landing on the Tollway. I am of the opinion that the baffle needs to be sealed-up, but I may be wrong.

Did your pipe just rattle or did you notice significant engine noise as well?

All the packing around it burned out, so just the baffle was left...rattled all the time

Took a welding course here in Austin at a local community college and most of the guys here would love to do it (supervised if you wish) for free or a ride in the Cobra. And there's no question the the equipment is top-quality.

Perhaps you could approach a local welding school/course about this. If not, they should be very willing to help you find a good welder.

Cheers,
-Neil.
