Funny Thing happend the other day

I was at the hardware store with Mrs America (my wife) and I was looking aroung for some windshield washer fluid. You always have to have a good reason to go to the hardware store. Anyway I was wearing my Cadillac Denim jacket with our embroiderd (sp) TCC patch on the back. Thank you James Baldwin. This guy that works there comes up behind me and says,

"Hey buddy"

I turned around and said "Buddy?... do I know you?"

He says "I saw that jacket, is that the real cobras club or those throw away kind?"

It was hard to keep my cool here, whew! I said "well mine is a kit ,but it is a pretty nice car. It was on the cover of Kit car magazine this time last year. It's an ok car, probably out run your car, I am just guessing though. Who knows? Right?"

This clown says Hey buddy, (again with the buddy thing) My neighbor has the first two "original Cobras" in his garage and he is trying to sell them. One has a bit of (get this) fiberglass damage on the front but I think it could be fixed easy enough. The guy only wants ten grand for the pair.

Now I know his education level about our "kits" and decide to let him have it, in a nice way of coarse. I said really, ten grand and only one of them have a little fiberglass damage on the original "Shelby 427's" wow what a deal "BUDDY"

This guy says yea man (oh, now I am the MAN) I just saw them last night they are so cool. I think I am going to buy them both and drive one everyday, you know differant one today than yesterday, cool huh.

I say, Hum.... ( looking up to the cieling for a bit and pretending to think) tell you what "buddy" ( I walk over and put my hand on his little shoulder and lean over as to wisper). Yea, tell you what, you go buy both cars tonight, for ten thousand dollars and tomorrow morning I will bring you a cashiers check for a million bucks for both cars, and you could make some pocket change on the deal. wadda you say, deal?

This guy jumps about a foot off the floor and says WOW, ( almost screaming) a million bucks ( his vioce is almost like a kid getting his first new bicycle, almost to the screaming point) uhhhhh, well, uhhh I am pretty sure they are sold by now.

I started to laugh, out loud and said, "yea, I'll bet they are. Dang "BUDDY" you could have retired....Tomorrow, on one sale. dang the luck.

I have so much fun with these guys. Don't you all?

Everyone has one of these stories I just got a real kick out of this one. If anyone has a similiar story please share it.

Steve - thats funny, but remember that ignorance is not confined to the young.

At a show earlier this year, and old guy came up to me and said " I had one of these Austin Healeys when I was younger, never would start in the mornings"

We had a long and agreeable conversation about the foibles of British sports cars, and he went happily on his way, still pleased to have re-met the car of his youth.

You have to be nice to them sometimes!

My Austin doesn't like to start in the morning.....and that for real, lol.

I was browsing in a local hooby shop and saw a nicely done 1/18th scale Cobra in the display case. The guy behind the counter sees me looking at it and says, "I drove one of those on the Autoban once - I got it up to 220." I give him a your-totally-full-of-@#$ look, and he says, "uuuhh, that is 220 km/h." I say, really that must have been fun and start to walk off. He then says "you know Kurt Shelby (yes he said Kurt) only sold three of them in the US before OSHA (yes OSHA! :JEKYLHYDE ) outlawed them." I reply that Caroll Shelby sold several hundred and that the originals are still street legal. He says, "No, I used to work for OSHA and...blah blah blah" I leave the shop, never to return.

Mike,

It does-- your sanity if you're any where close to being on an even state of mind--doesn't seem to hurt those who suffer from it.

Culling wouldn't work --like weeds they would just reappear:JEKYLHYDE

IF you bring sanity in, THAT is a big assumption. LOL

I guess being dumb is sort of like being around someone with alzheimers. The ones who suffer are the ones who have to put up with it.
