Man What A Day Part II - Drew's Cobra
Yep Tom you were right!
Stopped by Drew's this afternoon and he said, "Let's take my Cobra for a blast!" We took a ride down to Carrollton taking a nice leisure drive in 75 degree sunny afternoon. Then it happened.....the car just shut off and Drew coasted into a parking lot. What, a fuel pump out......or something else? Called David for the trailer and then thought could we possibly be out of gas? Gas guage says full but????? We called Tom Meadows and he balsted over and yep, bone dry!!!!!After a quick fill up we were on our way and that is when the fun began. David, Thanks for getting the trailer and starting down! Drew took me for a pretty exciting ride and then pulled over and said, "Your turn!" I have to tell you guys, I've had three pretty fast Cobras the last one being a 600+ HP, 514 big block and I couldn't believe the power to weight ratio of this car. Yea it's got 630 horse but it is so streetable.......but more important it gets the power to the ground. Keith Kraft has the tork curve coming in perfect for a Cobra and when you stick your foot in it, it flyes, plastering you back into your seat. I have to say, "I'm truely impressed and has confinced me to reconsider a big small block stroker for my next Cobra! Maybe if all these guys interested in Drew's car play around long enough, I can gather up the funds to just buy this one. WOW What A Day!!!!!!!!!! |
Gas mileage is not one of this cars greatest attributes!! Beautiful day in the neighborhood for a Sunday romp in the streets. Thank you Tom meadows for the fuel. David, thank you for the almost needed trailer. This is only the second time in my 40 years that I have personally "run out of Gas" the other time was when I had car #703 w/ the 460. Had it about a week and wasn't paying attention .

No problem on the almost need for the trailer. I've been stuck on the side of the road with a slave cylinder that crapped out on me ... it's not a good feeling.
My gas gauge works but, not very accurate. It stays on full for a long time then quickly drops. I've gotten into the habit of resetting the trip odometer when I fill up. At around 100-125 miles I fill up. David |
How could a RED car ever run out of gas? Especially one that has never used the secondairies? Now Drew's car....perfectly understandable....it's BLUE and blue cars go through gas quicker.....but if it's fuel economy you're looking for....keep it RED!!
