92 5.0 efi upgrade questions
My motor is stock just as Ford delivered it in the 92 GT, except there are no EGR, smog pump, etc. I am looking at getting an Explorer intake but you know how that goes.....
While I have the intake off should I change the injectors? If so then what size? I found some 30# and a Pro-M 75 mass air at a reasonable price. If I do that will I also need a larger fuel pump? This is my first Ford motor and I am still learning.... Thanks James Ultimate goal is to open up the breathing, add GT-40 heads and a 5-7 PSI blower so I want the parts to be able to make the jump. |
The 30# injectors will be a good choice for your blower upgrade but are not neccessary for your current combo even with the better intake. The injectors are easy to change later by removing the upper intake. If you can afford them go for it, if not then don't worry. I had 30# injectors on mine for a while without the blower and they work fine on a basic street motor.

With a blower in the future, go with the 30lbs. They will still work fine with the other mods before the blower goes on. Well,,,they might be a little rich, 24 would be ideal without blower, and work fine WITH a blower IF the psi was around 5 or so. But 30's at the right price would be OK and you can add more than 5 psi boost later with no problem.
By the way, 5 psi is a good pressure to work with. The engine will "live" longer, give OK increase in power, etc. More than 5 psi, you gotta start thinking about, pistons, bottom end, strength in general. Ernie |
