shipping kit Connecticut to Texas

Got an ERA kit near Hartford that's finished and ready to come to Houston but now there's a 3 week delay with the shipper - the cheap one @$800 - the expensive ones $1100 to $1500 are ready to go any time. Thought about driving up with an open trailer although worrried about it get getting a little wet/snowy/slick these days. Any ideas, experience with this stuff????

I payed $1100 to get my kit delivered to Fulshear,TX from Buffalo, NY. I would use an insured shipper this time of year. Have fun with your build! Len

What are the specs of your 428 build?

Sounds like good advice on the insurance Len - the weather up there has been awful - guess the cost isn't that bad - I'm just eager to get it here NOW!

Specs on the 428 rebuild - okay go easy on me now! It's almost totally stock. Harold Hutton at HP Racing did it for me. 30 over to clean up the cylinders, 10/10 on the crank, stock replacement cam, PI heads with 3 angle valve job, Edelbrock Performer 390 with 800 double pumper, new accessories, and ERA headers, but under car exhaust, toploader with McLeod clutch and lightweight steel but not aluminum flywheel. No snickers please- so I'm an old guy. Plan to drive it A LOT so hopefully it's pretty usable. Thanks for asking about it.

There are several of us up here in Dallas that completed our kits from ERA, if there is anything we can do to help let us know. We all had a lot of fun finishing our kits.

There are a few little tricks that might help you complete your kit. :D

n79825,

I used Rich Lacy from Rich's Classic Transport to ship my ERA to Sugar Land. Great service and he delivered it right to the house. I know he makes regular trips to CT. If you haven't already, I recommend you call him. He advertises on this site.

ERA600hp,

Please forward a complete list of all your tips and tricks immediately!:D We have completed the wiring and carpeting already. Yet to come are installation of the front suspension, brakes, etc; sidepipes, oil cooler, interior components and doors. Any hints based upon this sketchy description?
