Houston Meet

I am new to the club and heard that the next meeting is at Willy's Ice House on Hwy6, South of 90 in Sugerland. Has anyone got anymore details on when and what time or if it is somewhere else?

Hello Daryl -
You heard correctly. April's meet will be at Willy's south of Hwy 90 on Hwy 6. The date is the 12th, and we'll probably meet around 10:30. I'll let Dennis give the official meeting time, but that's just my guess.
We look forward to seeing you and your new wheels.

Scott, SPF#1230

Since I haven't seen another post about the meeting, I'll make my announcement here.
I'll be out of the state for about 2 weeks beginning Monday. Hence, I won't be at the meeting. Even if I were to be in town, my car would not make it. Seems my engine builder put in 'quality', drag racing engine parts that weren't supposed to last more than a couple of hundred miles. The people rebuilding much of my engine were astounded that it lasted 3100 miles. What forced me into a shop was that (fortunately only 1/2 mile from home) 6 valve springs broke. When I took the valve covers off, the spring on #1 was in about 6 pieces all over the head (turns out that the valve was slightly bent, too), and 5 springs on the left side were broken but still in place (I didn't see that they were broken when I pulled the cover). So, I have been out of action during the best weather for the first half of the year. Maybe the car will be finished when I get back. I'm also having a shroud crafted to cover the entire back side of the radiator. That should about fix my problems with heating up when stopped (also having the radiator thoroughly checked).
Hope the meeting goes well.
Regards,
Frank Newman

Frank, sorry about your engine woes! Hopefully your new engine builder can get everything straightened out and you will be ready for the road. Later, David.

I have to check with Willy's as far as to what time they open but the meeting should start at 10:30 unless they have a late opening.

Sorry to hear about your car Frank. I hope that your new engine builder does better by you. You were waaaaaaayyyyyy more paitent with the first one than I ever would have been.

OK y'all know how I get lost and miss turns. I couldn't find Willy's on Mapquest. IH 10 to Hwy 6, head south on 6, past Hwy 90, and then???

CobERA 04-11-2003 08:44 PM

David,

When you are traveling south on Highway 6 and cross Highway 90, there will be a Walmart and a Sam's Club immediately on your left. Willy's is just beyond Sam's on the left hand side.

Hope to meet some of you there tomorrow.
