289 FIA battery cut off switch
What would be the authentic, or near accurate , location for a battery cut-off switch on the 289's?
|
I don't know myself and maybe some of the members that have original cobras would know but I'm wondering if they even used cut off switches back then?
|
I do believe they did use cut off switches them. I believe the correct location is behind the passenger seat. Anybody else.

Actually, a true FIA is a racecar...so it must be reachable and visible.
Most I have seen were mounted right thru the dash, or on a panel between the two down-struts under the dash. http://www.csxinfo.net/photoalbum/SAAC/csx2010dash.JPG http://www.csxinfo.net/289cobra/csx2...s/DSC01641.JPG |
Ron,
What is the red pull next to the cut-off in the center picture? Fire bottle? |
Yup. Red-Tee handles are usually the fire bottle. Says "Pull Fire" on the handle.
(just noticed we are in the Texas Club forum...you want this moved to All Cobra Talk??) |
whatever, works for me! I don't know where I am half of the time...
|
Ron,
Looking at that center picture again I can also see the back up fire bottle between the seats... I guess you just unscrew it and pour it over your head or between your legs- the choice being the drivers...:MECOOL: |
I thought Casa just figured that the boys in TX had some better insight. Don't mess with Texas :D
