Houston October meet

The second Saturday of October is looming close. Is there a meeting this week?Am I being snubbed because I have a hard top?Is this a conspiracy by Dennis and David? Paranoidly yours,Pete.

scr11 10-07-2003 06:11 PM

It's that time again indeed! This Saturday's meet will be at Willie's Ice House in Sugar Land. Willie's is located just south of Hwy 90 on Hwy 6. Willie's is just south of Wal mart on the same side of the street.
Let's show up around 10:30 and grab the best parking!

See you all Saturday - rain or shine!

Pete, you have no reason to be paranoid.

(Have you looked under your car since Cobrastock? No, I mean REALLY LOOKED! Do the brakes feel OK to you? Is your fire extinguisher fully charged?)

See Y'all Saturday!

Dennis Mosley 10-08-2003 05:48 PM

what David said....

Just because you are paranoid, don't mean people aren't out to get you......

If I can get around to changing the oil I'll be there in the cobra (less than a 10 mile drive). Otherwise I'll be on the bike.

kountzecobra 10-08-2003 06:11 PM

Dennis, bring the fresh oil with you. Loosen the drain plug then drive to the meeting. By that time the old oil should be drained. Tighten the drain plug, and we will help add fresh oil. Nothing to it! No oil to dispose of either.

(JIC bring tow chain and always have a cell phone handy. Remember, the trick is getting the oil to drain out on the road at the correct rate!)

Ah yes, good advice. I was headed out to have a look but the thought of either of these rather large men slithering beneath my car to plant some foreign device seemed unlikely if not impossible. We are ,however, dealing with a "Gashole" and an A&M product so anything is possible from this demonic duo.I think I shall park several paces away from them Sat. as one never knows.Pete.

Brought the Cobra back from Colorado, so I plan to be there. No mishaps on the return trip - just a lot of bugs to clean off again.
Also, fabricated a protector for the radiator while in Colorado - worked like a charm - after the first attempt to attach it failed - but we all learn from out mistakes I am told. Of course after the first method of attaching it failed there were a lot of "experts" who told me why it would not work - odd that none of them spoke up during the design phase to voice their opinions. They are the same ones that said the alternative method would not work - fooled them.

Weather Depending....

If the weather is good, I'll be there, but probably not until 11:30.

kountzecobra 10-11-2003 05:14 PM

Good turnout today! I think 16 Cobras showed up and I personally enjoyed visiting with everyone. After I left to return home, I was flagged down by a very nice White/Blue stripes GT 40. We stopped at a parking lot and talked Carburetors, Cobras, GT40s, and Fords in general for about an hour. Nice guy. He was afraid he wouldn't be welcome at a Cobra meeting but I said as long as he used good manners, he could attend. :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

Dennis Mosley 10-11-2003 07:11 PM

20 Cobras

The final total on cars was 20 cobras!!!:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE:

Willy's has been our best turn out spot lately.

Wish the GT 40 would have stopped by. David were you able to get his contact info or did he get ours?

kountzecobra 10-11-2003 07:20 PM

I told him where we meet, etc. He'll find us.

CowtownCobra 10-11-2003 08:12 PM

Congratulations to Houston, 20 cars, thats great, no, thats awesome! ,,,,here in DFW our last meet drew a piddly 5 cars,,,. pitiful...

David, good job!

One of your folks missed because we hijacked him. Mark Bishop was here for the day so that he and I could visit the infamous Lone Star Classics. I didn't know Houston had such class gentlemen cobra owners (sorry David, hehehe...).

Had a great day talking cobras and sharing tips. Our visit to Lone Star was productive and I saw no signs of a company in distress or trouble.

Mark, good luck with your car. Let me know if I can help in any way.

David, maybe you can organize the next DFW cobra get together. Who knows, we might make it to 6 cars!

kountzecobra 10-11-2003 08:26 PM

This was our second meeting at Willie's. Last time there was at least 20 cobras attending. Other places usually don't draw as many. Obviously this is closest meeting spot for most owners. Usually a bit of whining about having to drive all the way across Houston to meet:3DSMILE:
We always have fun!

mbishop 10-11-2003 11:10 PM

David,
People can start whining after they drive as far as you do. Mayby we need a meeting in the metropolis of Kountze one day.

Dave,
Thanks again for inviting me over, nice home and nicer family. I had a great time, only problem it's a long trip back. Oh well made it in one piece with lots of goodies for the car.

Can't wait until I can attend the meetings in true Cobra style, the ol' pickup isn't as much fun. See you guys next time at the Sundance Grill. Is anyone going to the car show that following weekend over at the Boardwalk?

Mark
