Cobra Crash

Does anyone know who crashed their Cobra today in Dallas after the car show. Are the people OK, is it someone from the TCC. I got several calls but no one knew anything ?? Hopefully they are all OK and not injured. Later, db %/

Don,

I heard about this 3rd hand, so I don't have a lot of information and not sure how accurate it is.

1. I don't know who it was.
2. Was told the car went off the road and hit a tree.
3. Passenger was taken off in an ambulance.

Like you, I hope they are ok and hopefully someone else can provide more information.

What is it with these damned trees?

There aren't THAT many of them but it seems Cobra's manage to hit them whenever they go off the road.

I hope the injuries were minor.:(

JRoss was at the crash scene and told me that the Cobra was red with dark interior & 15" wheels.
The passenger was taken out by CareFlight. The driver was transported by ambulance.

Keep us posted on the wreck...

I didn't even know they had trees in Texas..

Not to make light of a tragedy, BUTT...

....I once saw a picture, taken c. 19010-12 in N.M. or Utah where two straight-as-an-arrow dirt roads intersected at right angles. Right at the crossing there was a pair of flivvers, clearly interlocked and smashed all to Hell:LOL: Place was absolutley NOWHERE. No trees, no vegetation, period. Coulda been staged.....but it was hilarious. Sorta like those "magnetic" mesquites (or whatever) down in Texas that just flat LUNGE at fiberglass/aluminum and steel cars!!!

Nonetheless, my sympathy to the wreckees on this thread....

I saw the car being lifted on a flatbed as I was leaving the show. He didn't hit a tree, he hit the light pole in the center median -- a light pole with about a 3' high concrete base. I didn't recognize the car either. I was trying to dig my digital camera out of the bag while driving, as the police were directing us over onto the opposite side of the median. I couldn't get the damn thing turned on in time, and the cop directing traffic whistled at me to move my ass!

The front end of the car was smashed to **** -- fiberglas, glass, and stuff all over the place, including lots of fluids... coolant probably from the looks of the front end. The car was a dark crimson red, metallic color. The wheels were a modern style, chromed 5- or 7-spokes.

My son Nick, who left the show earlier, told me on the cell phone that there were two ambulances there at the time, and one passenger was on the ground in a neck brace.

I can't think of his name but don't we have a TCC club member with a car like that!

I have seen this car at several of our monthly meets, I think.

I am not sure whose car it was but it was a candy apple red Lone Star. It looked very similar to Fred's car but it had a black interior. I talked to a fireman on the scene and he told me apparently he came through the intersection at speed and lost control because there was a big dip in the road. The front drivers side of the car hit a light pole in the center median and spun the car around the rear of the car (center of the trunk) hit a tree. Lone star has a steel brace at the back to protect the gas tank and it appeared to be smashed in about a foot or more. When I arrived the fire dept was spraying foam on the car to take care of a fuel leak. One of the firemen told me the driver seemed to be ok but was very shaken up and taken to the hospital for observation. the other was in worse shape and they did not know the extend of his injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

I am still not sure who it was but I sure hope they are ok.

I think I know that car. I saw him out at motorsports ranch one weekend at a NASA event last spring('02). He wasn't running the car...just there to watch. I tried to get him out to one of the TCC meetings but he didn't seem too receptive. He had some Boyd Cottingtons on the car....nice looking car. That's a shame!
