Newly Painted Spec Racer
I finallly figured out how to post jpg's on this site and wanted to share my "just back from the paint shop" FFR Spec Racer.

Terry, Good looking paint job. Question, I thought FFR spec racers had permanent doors. Is your doors hinged?

Thanks Guys! It has been a long time coming and I am very excited about finally getting ready for the street and track.
Ed, The doors on a spec racer are there, just not really usuable because of the side bars on the roll cage. We will attach the doors with either quick release pins or rivetts so that we can get to the footbox area when we need to work on it! :) Rich, Not really but this is the "real" American race colors and paint scheme. It is very similar to the Briggs Cunningham cars that ran at LeMans in the 50's & 60's. Regards, Terry |

I've been racing a 1965 Ford Monte Carlo Ford Falcon Clone (like the one that I owned in the late 60's) in CVAR in BP against GT 350 Shelby Mustangs, 327 c.i. vettes, 1967 Cougars, and few FIA Mustangs. My Falcon was putting out over 400+ HP and I was still down about 75 HP to the fastest cars. That class is a $$$$$$ class and I decided that I didn't want to keep throwing money into a car that was at best a mid-pack car and I sold it so that I could build the FFR Spec Racer. I would like to continue racing vintage, but with my bad back & cancer surgery in July and the rising cost of vintage racing I decided to only try to run the FFR Spec Class and go to local events with the car. Congratulations on staying ahead of the big 'C'! Keep it up. There's a guy who races a Falcon up here with SOVREN who consistantly runs 1st or 2nd; ahead of GT 350's, BB Vettes, and Cobras. I don't see how a big brick like that could be so fast. One of the original African Rally cars used to be a regular with SOVREN, but I haven't seen him for a couple of years. He was a cancer survivor too. I hope he just got tired of racing. I used vintage race a Porsche 912...not as fast as your Falcon. but I had a good time. I sold it to buy the Cobra. Will you run the spec racer with SCCA or is there a FFR series...or what? Those cars look like a blast to race. Good luck with yours. Rich |

Thanks for the positive support on the cancer front. I just got my 1st PSA report today and it was good! :3DSMILE: I've heard about that car! Very fast! Sorry to hear about his cancer too! :( There is another very quick one in Colorado that regularly beats a lot of the other cars too! His is a 63' round body car. Mine was a 65 square body car. If you go to my website at: http://www.falcon65.com you will see the article that Grassroots Motorsports did on my car in 2001. :D Porsche's are a blast! A good friend of mine has raced Porsches for about 30 years and he is FAST! Initially I will run the car in NASA Spec Racer competition, then later in SCCA to keep my license current. The car is NOT competitive in SCCA classes, but who cares! They are a blast to run. Regards, Terry |

Steve, I don't know if it has met my expectations yet or not! It has been a real pain in the --- at times but as we near completion, I am starting to like it again! :rolleyes: 427 Sharpe...you are absolutley right about more rubber up front :LOL: Stu, to post a jpg on the reply you have to go to the IMG box at the top of the post reply page, click on it and then add your url information. Then click OK an presto/chango you have a jpg added to the message. Clear as mud, right :confused: Terry |
