Bobby Worley's son in a car wreck!
Friends,
I just got a call from Bobby Worley, telling me Nick was in a car wreck in Cedar Hill last night. He is currently on Baylor hospital with two broken legs and a few other injuries, and it appears the prognosis is good for recovery, and that all involved will live. From what I could determine, this was a case of riding with a neighbor that had a "thing" for speed and reckless driving, who lost control of his car and hit a tree. It apparently took two hours to cut Nick out of the car! God was watching them this time, and lets hope all involved learned a very hard lesson, and that this has a positive impact on their friends at school! Life is fragile and can sometimes be short, and luckily it appears that Nick will have another chance, and I feel sure he will have learned a very hard lesson. A prayer for his recovery and the Worley family would be appreciated. John Russell |
Not that there's ever a "good" time for something like this, but what an awful time of the year for an accident. Nick, prayers for a speedy and complete recovery to you and all involved. Bobby, hang in there--

I will try to most more information tonight, but for now I am headed back to the hospital after being awake since 11:30pm sunday night. Nick is in ICU for the next 6-10 days, room 412 of the Truett tower at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. As John R. mentioned he was in the wreckage almost 3 hours, 1 hour before the help arrived and 2 more hours it took to extricate him. The were on remote country road s. of cedar hill. he was fully awake the whole time. Nick was in the front passenger seat. he was transported by CareFlite to Baylor. he was in surgery Monday morning to repair both legs, and will need to go back to surgery either tomorrow or friday to place a rod in his left femur.
The other two passengers and the driver all survived and they all extremely lucky. Driver has a broken right leg in several places and lost part of his left foot. Nick's girlfriend Mary in the backseat has a broken clavacle and separated shoulder and was discharged sunday night. The other girl isn't doing so good. he has a lacerated liver and crushed L1 vertabrae they will fix by surgery soon. It IS ONLY by the grace of God that they are all alive.. the entire Cedar Hill student body started a prayer chain sunday night and he must have had a hundred kids visit yesterday. The power of prayer is unbelievable. WE are in room 412 of the Truett tower at Baylor if anybody wants to call or visit - 214-818-8442. Love you all --- Bob Worley |
Bob,
Best wishes for a speedy recovery by all involved. |
Bob,
You, your family, and the others involved are in my prayers. Thank you for the up-date. Best wishes -John |
We'll add you and your son to our prayer list. A very good friend of ours was badly hurt by a drunk driver in October, so this is way too familiar to us.

Update on Nick
Hi everyone,
First of all THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all the calls, emails, visits, prayers, etc. We all are truly blessed. Nick is in surgery right now for his left leg repair and should be out by noon today. We will be at Baylor hospital at least five more days. Room H-604, phone number 214-818-5604 (if its busy I'm on the laptop modem!) In order to save time and not overwhelm people with emails, I have set up an online journal which I can update daily, sometimes several times a day. The page is: www.worleyworld.com/nick/ Please read the journals for the latest information, and you can also leave him a note in the guestbook if you like. thank you ALL ~ Bob & Anneliese Worley . |
My prayers are with Nick and everyone involved or affected by this.
It sounds like he has a good prognosis but a long recovery ahead of him. His faith will help him through. |
Bobby,
Hope all goes well with Nick's surgery as this sounded like a pretty bad accident.......Prayers with you all! |

Two night ago I took Nick out to the Cedar Hill High School basketball game. He had a great time. The varsity boys and girls team were playing against rivals Duncanville. We rolled into the gym before the first game and the "Red Army" (Cedar Hill's very animated student body of Longhorn basketball supporters) all saw Nick and their faces just lit up! Everybody stood around him and started clapping. Many of Nick's teachers and coaches were also very happy to see him and came by with plenty of hugs and encouragement. They all said he is sorely missed in school and they are anxious to he him back roaming the halls of Cedar Hill High School. Thanks for all the continued prayers and support. The power of prayer really works!! Read his online journal and see more pictures at www.worleyworld.com/nick/ |
That's great news, Bobby!! The power of prayer! God bless Nick and may he have a strong and speedy recovery.
See you in a month, my friend. Charmer |
