TCC Spring Meet Press Release

Press Release - Media Announcement

Introduction: In the early 1960's, a brash Texan by the name of Carroll Shelby envisioned an automotive marriage between a European sports car & the American V-8. By dropping a lightweight small-block Ford V-8 engine into the chassis & aluminum body of a British AC Ace 2-seat roadster, Shelby created a car that would dominate the racing circuits of the era & change the face of automotive history forever. In it's heyday a Shelby Cobra had no equal on the track. This early 289 FIA Cobra was refined & evolved throughout the 60's & the final version was a thundering, fire breathing, take-no-prisoners, flare fendered, big block 427 S/C Cobra roadster, which is today regarded as the very essence of brute automotive power. The 427 Cobra S/C is still considered to be the fastest production street car ever sold in America.

Today, the Texas Cobra Club (TCC) celebrates the spirit of the Shelby Cobra by sharing a passion for this legendary race car. Club members from all across Texas build, customize, race & drive Shelby Cobra replicas from one of several replica manufacturers.

Several times a year, area & statewide events are hosted to get together & raise the hoods, check out the newest additions, talk shop & generally share the fun & fellowship of other Cobra enthusiasts. It's also a real kick to watch the heads turn & the jaws drop when 50 or 60 Cobras rumble down the road. For more information on the Texas Cobra Club, feel free to follow the links on the web site to view photos & learn more about past gatherings, upcoming events, current members & their Cobras.

Ed,

Nice job but you should include Friday night tailgate party as anyone coming would not want to miss it!

The only reason I didn't mention the tailgate party on Friday evening is because it's a BYOB type of party in a hotel parking lot. I didn't think of inviting the press or TV media would be appropriate.

Anyone got opions on this?

I haven't submitted the press release to the TV stations yet. I have time to include the Friday evening tailgate party in the press release.

I'd leave the Friday Nite Tailgate party out of the press release. Maybe mention that there might be informal Friday night activities as out-of-towners arrive and for more info yada yada.

That way it's not just a wide open blow-out for any old college kids (or any other drunk group) to show up, but also lets those who might be seriously interested know of the possibility and they can get info by asking.

Great Job Ed,

VERY professionally written! If we get the CSX from OK., you might want to change "replica" to "replicas and originals".:MECOOL: Boy, wouldn't that be great.

Keep up the great work!

Charmer

Texas Highways Magazine

FYI - ALL,

I was contacted by Mike Murphy with Texas Highways Magazine - he has an article appearing in the January issue of this magazine that highlights Carroll Shelby - the Cobra - and our annual event that we hold here in the Austin area every year.

I haven't seen the article - don't know what it says - you all may want to be on the lookout for this publication and see what Mike has to say.

Classic Motorsports Magazine

We'll add it to the calendar on our website, but unfortunately you're too late to make it into an issue of the magazine before the meet. However, please be sure to delegate one of your best photographers to shoot some images of the meet and email them to me (jpeg format, at least 1200x1500 pixels) plus a write-up and you'll have the chance to see the report in an upcoming issue of Classic Motorsports Magazine. I'm sure our readers will enjoy seeing how the Cobra guys enjoy themselves.
Cheers
