Can there be any discussion about the choice of photographer, last year poster was so bad I didn't even get it framed !!!

Thanks, db

Really?

Jack Puryear has been taking photos of our yearly events and this is the first time I heard a complaint about his photos. Maybe your car photo was an exception last year. My FFR photos were great.

The poster photo was restricted to the way we setup all the Cobras last year. You can blame Tom for that one.

Why don't you and a few other TCC members talk and work with Jack on the poster photos you want taken. I'm sure Jack would be willing to cooperate with us. It's up to us on how we setup our Cobras.

As for getting another professional photographer who does car venues here in Austin, I know no one else who comes out, takes photos, and not charge car clubs.

Ed, To be blunt, I have seen Jack's work for years and it is not good, maybe you need to compare to a good photography.

As far as the poster of the group, the picture is out of focus, that's not Tom's fault. Do you have a copy of last years big poster?? If not I will be glad to send to you.

There are several photographers that would be happy to do the event and they never charge a car club. .

BTW, last year Jack showed up and didn't even have a generator to run his equipment and had to us one of our members generator.

His attitude is what gets me, Jack told me that he will not post his pictures on a web site, "people steal my pictures" BS that's the way every other professional handles their shots.

Everyone that saw the poster talked about the poor quality, so.. whatever.

Please help me out!

Okay, I'm open for suggestions. Does anyone know a good photographer to recommend? If so, please contact them and see if they can be at our gathering. If we get someone else to replace Jack, I will call Jack back and cancel our request.

It may be to late now for a new photographer but I will be happy to schedule one for next year.

I Need Inputs ASAP!

Since Don has raised problems with Jack, Jack's associate has contacted me as follows:

Hello Ed,

I have spoken to Don Barnes and he suggested I contact you. I am a digital photographer from Austin Texas and have been photographing various auto sport events throughout the country for well over six years utilizing digital technology. I have assisted Jack Puryear's Digital Race Photography for your past three spring events. Since this past year, I have broken off from DRP and been providing a fresh new unique photographic service. The Digital Photo Cafe would be interested in providing our photo services for your up coming spring event in February.

We have a very unique, large vintage 50's diner style trailer that we preview and produce various size photos on the spot to interested participants. The Cafe/Diner style trailer has room and a creative flair that reflects our creative photographic products. We are electrically independent with a power generator. Our photos offer a high range of professionalism and creativity. We have never participated in an event that didn't receive overwhelming raves of our work! I expect your participants would experience the same. In addition, I would be open to provide a series of select photos for your use for considering us to participate in this event at no cost to you or the club.

If you would like to see samples of our photos, please feel free to visit our yahoo group site at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/digitalphotocafe

I am confident we would add something extra to this event. I have ideas for a completely new group shot and more creative cruise shots. If you are not responsible for organizing this event, I would appreciate any forwarding of information as whom to contact. I look forward to hear from you soon.

Thank you,
Doug Pawlak

Before I contact Jack, I need inputs from everyone about Jack's past performance. If the majority wants to try a new photographer, I will contact Doug and release Jack.

Now is the time to voice your opinions.

Let's give Doug a try. If he can provide quality photo's a fresh look and a decent price, its worth a shot.

Lets go with Doug!!

Ed,

My only concern is the photographer needs to take a photo of each car. Last year I looked for a picture of my car, with no luck. The only photo of my car was in the group photo, none on the cruise or at the parking garage.

I vote for Doug!

Go with Doug...

Lets give Doug a try. If his work sucks, we'll keep looking.

Ed Csoltko 01-11-2004 08:07 PM

Okay!

I'll release Jack and contact Doug tomorrow.

Ed Csoltko 01-12-2004 02:15 PM

Mission Accomplished

I e-mailed Jack stating that his services are no longer required.

I contacted Doug and he's set for February 27th & 28th. Doug will post and introduce himself to everyone.
