throw-down wheels
Anyone know where I can get a set of throw-down wheels for my build up. I have some 15" tires to use, just need some old 5 lug steel wheels. I was quoted at the local junk yards anywhere from 20 to 35 bucks a piece. Aycaromba! Have I missed something or am I picking the wrong junk yards. I figured they would be a dime a dozen. I know I havent dealt with junk yards in quite some time but come on. Sheeesh.:(

Hey Pat, it's good to see the project moving along (or maybe without wheels it's just sitting). I ran into the same problem, couldn't beg, borrow or at these prices buy any use wheels. I just gave up and ordered a set of Team III's and said the heck with the search. I figured if I'm going to invest the money it would be on some keepers.
Good luck,
Mark

This was not an issue on my SPF, but on another car I'm building I was able to get the donut spares for 5 each. Turned out very well. Gives a lot of extra room to get in there to see what you are doing. And if you are like me and space in the garage is a premium, I have to move it out from the wall when working and then back again. The very narrow tires make moving the chassis a breeze.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I will break down and buy some. The auto recycle industry has changed considerably since I used play in 'em. Later.

I'm using the donuts on my project and got them at a local yard. I went to 2 yards, one they gave them to me, said they have to pay to dispose of them, the other charged me 5 bucks. No worries about scratches or overspray, etc......
