TCC 2004 meet - let the superlatives begin!
 

Wow! Just a tremendous outing all around.

Phenomenal cars - beautiful Cobras (they even let some in that had those funny CSX numbers!), an AC Bristol, a GT-40, two Superformance coupes (that my wife flipped over), a Panoz roadster, a Lone Star Lambo, a Ferrari 308 (one of my other favorite cars) and a Roush-equipped Mustang that whistled at everyone :)!

A perfect drive - some opportunities to blow the plugs clean, twisty and for the most part smooth roads, clouds that kept temperatures cool but never rained, and with about 6-10 cars in the group I kept up with, a mellifluous soundtrack!

A delicious lunch, made all the better by excellent company - my wife and I shared a table with Daniel and Victoria, who were in the 308, and everyone we talked to could not have been nicer. As fantastic as getting to be around these cars was, it would have lost its charm in a New York minute if the people in them weren't so great!

I even got to shake Brent Mills' hand, and it was all I could do not to start bowing like Wayne and Garth and saying "I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!"

I know other folks will post more and better pictures, but here's a start - thanks again to everyone who pulled this together!

Also, thanks to the Houston crew. It was a fun drive up on Friday!

I left after the cruise on Saturday to beat the rain. Made it home dry ... but that sure is a long drive by yourself! It's a lot more fun with other cars!

I had a great time and it is always great to see people that I wish I saw more often than this annual meet.

Hats off to the Ed and Colleen and all the people behind the scenes that helped to plan a great event.

The ride home was a little wet but I was smiling all the way!

Greg and I both had another fabulous weekend with the greatest group of people you could ever want to be around. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard at putting this together to give us memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanks to everyone who helped put together the best TCC event yet. Ed, I know how hard you worked and it really paid off. Cammer, Colleen, Gregg, Ryan....and all the rest....GREAT job!!

It was a great lunch as well. Mr. Russell, you did a wonderful job paying tribute to two wonderful people, Ronnie Reed and Dick Flesher. I know they were both looking down on us and smiling.

Thanks Doug for the Jambalaya and hospitality. You're a class act.

And to all of the "gang"...what can I say. Getting to spend time with you guys was terrific. This event has gotten so huge, that it's hard to spend enough time with everyone. Well, I guess that is what the monthly local events are for right?

Just a quick note from Oklahoma City...

Pamela and I had a great time. Thank you to everyone that helped put this wonderful event together. Pamela is already talking about what to do when we go back next year. (This is the first time I've gotten her to go along on something like this.)

She's also talking about us starting a Oklahoma Cobra Club. Maybe next year we can bring more Cobras with us.

Thanks again for such a great time.

For those of you looking for a fun trip in July, Stretch and family are coming to our house July 4th for our annual Fourth of July party. The city fireworks are shoot off across the street from my house, so we have front row seating, and plenty of parking. If anyone else would like to make the trip, please let me know. We'd love to have you. (We had 150 people last year...and a fun day.)

What a great event. This is the first time I have attended with a Cobra. I never get tired of seeing these cars and it is great to see the variations of other cars like the Daytona Coupes and GT 40's showing up. Sorry I could not continue on with the road tour. My oldest son is a senior and this is his last season playing high school Lacrosse. I want to attend every one of his games this year and he had one that afternoon.
I was in awe of CSX2476, what a treat to see it. It was great to visit with everyone, I wish there was more time.

Tim, thanks for coming by and sharing your drop-dead-gorgeous 3002 replica with all of us. When I saw you pulled off the road during the drive I was concerned that you had a problem, but it was obvious by the way you were standing there giving out the "thumbs up" that all was well. I had to head home early due to "family stuff," too, so I know what it's like, wanting to be in two places at once--

Bob I didn't get a ride in the 40!!!! I was bummed that you couldn't come back with us. You should have headed back to the hotel after lunch with us...we were worried about rain...with the slicks shapata has on and the comp car with us we decided to hall back and as Mark put it...LETS BURN SOME GAS...

Let me tell you those guys are some of the best...and they don't hesitate to run the hell out of 2476..you can just make it out in the group shot with the 11 meatball on it....man what a run back...I think I hit the speed limit maybe twice on the way back (thats while I was slowing down not top speed :) hehehehe

Those hills and roads are a treat...I am ready to do it again...lets go...

Thanks, Bob. I admire you for driving the cars in from SA on Friday evening. Your slabside and GT-40 are cool. That was my son with me on the side of the road in his lifted Chevy (sorry) truck. We enjoyed watching the cars fling by. Let me know if you will be at Road America for the vintage races. I will be there for the event.

It wouldn't be proper to speak for either Brent or Sherrie, however, it was very nice that we ended the weekend with just a little NW CobraClub weather. Waking up to rain on the hotel window and the cars streaming out of te parking lots looking for clear skys or at least the dry garage or trailer. We had a great time, thanks again.
Dennis Mosley said to put my TCC sticker right next to my NWCC sticker. My question is? do they fall off in the rain? The NWCC ones are waterproof.

Tim, I have a couple of Chevy-powered vehicles in my garage, one of which will eat everything else I own for lunch (and still be hungry:D ). No apologies needed there. I will be at Road America for the BRIC, with several people including Cal Metal, Bob Evans, and the one and only Phil Remington. Let's touch base as July gets closer.

Keith, it was really neat to visit with you. I'm glad that you and your family could be in Austin when we had our meet. I had one of the white TCC decals on my old ERA's windshield for three or four years and it stayed put. I didn't exactly drive it in the rain every week, but it saw its share of moisture (and Windex) and held up just fine.

Rick, your ERA is a stunner. Really beautiful.

And Matt, I'll get you behind the wheel of that thing sometime soon! As with most of the fun stuff in life, Austin was over too quickly and I didn't get to look at half of the cars, talk with half of the people, or spend half of the time hanging out that I would have preferred. Gives me something to shoot for at next year's meet, I guess--

Phil Remington???? Wow.....it would be worth the trip to visit with him. Strangely enough, every car I have came from Wisconsin. Only one has not run some laps at RA.

Yup, Phil's over 80 and sharp as a tack. B-24 Liberator bombers in WWII, racing belly tank cars at Bonneville in the late 40's, building Scarabs for Lance Reventlow in the 50's, serving as the chief engineer for Shelby on the Cobras and GT40s, then over to AAR where he worked on everything from the Eagle Indycars, the Cuda T/A racers, to the Toyota IMSA GTP cars, the man has "seen it, done it, got the t-shirt" from every facet of U.S. road racing. He remains as humble and self-effacing a man as you'll ever hope to meet, to boot.

We were walking around the paddock at Monterey this past year with him, marveling at his knowledge and experience. He can point to pictures from the pits at Le Mans and tell you why a certain driver or crew member has a particular expression on their face, and everybody and I mean everybody practically genuflects to him. We were in the autograph tent with Gurney, Phil Hill, Sir John Whitmore, Bondurant, P. Jones, etc. etc., when Shelby drove in. Among all of the attendees he made a beeline for Rem and shook his hand, saying, "without this man none of us would have much to be celebrating." High praise indeed.

Anyhow, I digress and I don't mean to hijack this thread. Tim, look me up and I'll see to it that we share a beer with Mr. Remington--there's nothing better at Elkhart, trust me--
