retirement

hey guys
i'm happy to announce that after 34 years of helping to raise other peoples kids i am retiring from king high school here in corpus christi! the first 22 years i spent coaching a highly successful high school tennis program. my teams won 22 consecutive district titles, 19 regional championships, and 9 state championships. beginning june 1st i will assume the duties of director of adult programs at the HEB tennis center here in corpus. in addition i, plan to help steve and dennis at lone star build some of their cars. i also intend to find more time to spend with my family, do car stuff and play more tennis. be nice to be able to go out on the beach and run whenever i want. gosh, it seems like only yesterday that i first started teaching and coaching. it was a lot of fun with some great memories, but now its time to move on. look forward to seeing you guys on down the road.

Paul,
Congratulations on such an inspiring career and good luck on your retirement. I envy your position with the Lone Star builds. Wish I could spend more time finishing mine, sometime soon I hope.

I may try to hook up with you this summer. I hope to take the family to Corpus for a long weekend. Perhaps we can meet somewhere a check out your car.

Good luck,
Mark

Paul,
CONGRATS.... Enjoy your new life, you have certainly earned it. My brother just retired from the San Francisco PD after 32 years. Calls me every day complaining about not enough hours in the day, and wondering how he ever got anything done when he worked.
Must be a great feeling when some of your old students come up and still call you "Coach"..
"Life", isn't it wonderful!
Enjoy,
Bob

Dennis Mosley 05-27-2004 11:59 PM

CONGRATS!!!! Now you have more time to goof off...wait...that's my plan...have fun any way!

Snakecharmer 05-28-2004 03:58 AM

Paul,

Congrats buddy. What an awesome career. I have fond memories of playing against CC King in the State tournament, and against your players in TTA tournaments. You guys were always a class act and very well respected.

I also have fond memories of the H.E.B. Tennis Center. A beautiful big tennis center with tons of activity....between that job, building Cobras, and playing competitive tennis, you're going to have to retire from retirement some day!!!!!

Actually, I can't imagine a better way to retire :) See you soon,

Charmer

Ah, retirement, a time of relaxation and ease, except for the honey dos,and people calling and asking you to do something cause you're retired right? And Lord forbid if you own a P/U truck LOL!

joe garland 05-28-2004 03:12 PM

Congratulations Paul!! I hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I have. Over the past 5 years I seem to be on the run all the time! I don't know how we managed when we were working full time.

Post something on Corpus, so we can start making plans. By the way, we are planning on making the Colorado run with the Mile High Cobra Club, Maybe you and some of the other Texas group wpuld like to make it too???

Paul,

Congrats on your retirement, and congrats on the Lone Star deal. I know you will have a blast.

Be careful, When I retired the first time I found I had too much wife and not enough money
