Another Texas Keith Craft 600 HP Engine
Keith & Tony got my engine done two weeks early.6 instead of 8 weeks.
What great people to work with !!! :3DSMILE: The 418w ended up making - 602 HP at 6,300 rpm and 584 Ft. Lbs. of torque at 5,100 rpm. At 6,300 rpm it is still making 502 Ft. Lbs.. :3DSMILE: It has at or above 600 HP from 6,000 - 6,600 rpm. At 6,800 rpm it is still making 596 HP. :D :D :D :D |
Congrats J Fred can't wait to see and hear it.

Fred,
wow... in the words of tim the tool man taylor "you can never to much power" good luck with this one :) I have my keith craft under construction right now. Only a 408W with ~525hp "such a puny little motor" but I guess it is my first. :-) Hopeing to get the engine in mid to late aug (6 - 8 week) quote. To answer griffinzein question http://www.keithcraftmotorsports.com or http://www.keithcraft.com |
............. I made a jack@ss outta myself. he's the guy that did the machine work to get my 351 heads to mate up to my 302 block, man that was a long time ago. *looks down and shakes head in embarrasment*
|
Thanks for the nice words guys !!!:3DSMILE:
Looks like the scattershield will be back from being powdercoated this wed. and then the install will start. Chris, you might be the only one around that considers 525 Hp "puny", I sure don't. James, turns out you were right about Keith going on vacation. It started last wed..:3DSMILE: Jim,sure is difficult to concentrate on the bikinis down here with my engine in Dallas. I guess I'll manage though.Tough job but someone has to do it.:3DSMILE: |
Horsepower Junkies!
What good is all that horsepower when you can't keep it on the ground.
All you guys are horsepower junkies. Then, when you install the "BIG" engine, you sell it before the first oil change. Then there are those who love the smell of racing fuel, and then there are those who like to purge their NOS systems to impress the crowds. What ever! :JEKYLHYDE Well I got to vent myself, I guess I'll go out and stretch my legs with my little 302. Drive safe and try to keep it on the ground.:p |
Ed,
I think you are a bit mistaken. We've had the 418 in our car for well over a year now. As a matter of fact Alan installed it in April 2003 (I know this because he was supposed to be at an event with me and blew it off to work on the car). And when Kirkham was running that deal awhile back we hemmed and hawed about going for it and opted to stick with the car/motor combo that we have because we both enjoy it. We have no problem staying on the ground, be it a quick trip to Sonic, or around the track at TMS. And we ARE NOT running anything but pump gas. That's the one stipulation at my house. You can build any engine you want, but we have to be able to gas up at the corner gas station. When I want to go for a cruise, I want to go then, not after a trip to KCM to get fuel. I don't think Fred will have any problems. He likes to be in his car, and he's got one of the prettiest cars around. I doubt he'll be pulling stupid stunts and destroy that baby of his. Colleen |
Just having some fun!
Colleen, My previous post was just a joke. Don't take my comments seriously. I was trying to stir up the Dallas bunch. :3DSMILE:

My bad! :o
I guess it worked! ;) :D |
Well, I think Fred is going to need a new Paint Job!
Well,
In my humble opinion, I think Fred needs to get that car to the paint store NOW for another color sanding and a real thick coat of clear! I have it on good report he bought the "cheap" paint job because they knew he was putting in a small stroker as a starter engine:LOL:   , and now, with this new Keith Craft Bad Boy, old Fred is going to just drive right on out from under that Candy Apple Red paint at about 135 mph or so!!!!!!!! It's TRUE! Just beleve it, 'cause Tom told me so :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: Your friend, John R.    ps. I made the stuff up about Tom, but he's not here:LOL: |
Congrats Fred as you will love it!
