Looking for RADAR.... Traps that is....

Ok

Working on a story for one of the up coming issues of Texas Driver Magazine and i want to get a little feedback.

Where are those places in Texas that are just awful for Radar? The random roaming revenue collectors that police the roads of Texas. I know Southlake Trophy Club is awful for this and looking for others (and Stories to go with from own experiences) for the worst strips in texas. Any help is appreciated

Hwy 287 in Estelline is terrible for radar. I think it's the only source of revenue for the town. I think the local cop there has a new car every 6 months. I don't have any personal encounters because I was warned, but nearly every time I go through there, night or day, there is someone pulled over.

Martindale, Tx. Hwy 80 South of San Marcos. Notorious speed trap, town has hardly any inhabitants but has good size Police force running 24/7.
When I went to SWTSU 30 years ago it was just as bad. I lived there in 94-96.

Here are a few places you should be very careful when traveling. All are very small towns on highways with 65-70 MPH speed limit, then a drastic and sudden drop to 55 – 45 - 40 MPH. You can count on the speed the limit being constantly and strictly enforced. I travel these roads frequently and have made my fair share of donations early on.

• Bridgeport on Hwy 380
• Runaway Bay on Hwy 380 These are only a few miles apart – watch out or you will get the daily double
• Bertram on Hwy 29
• Plano – Both Frontage Road & Spring Creek/Legacy exits off 75 S are guaranteed encounters with our finest. You are immediately enter a 40 MPH access road with little time to bleed off the highway speed.

Rout 16, Ellendale Delaware has a cop in an old, maybe 1998, cruiser waiting each and everyday for about 22 out of 24 hours. Also along Rt 16 is Greenwood. You don't see the cops as much, but they're there. Each speed limit goes from 50 to 25 in NO TIME.

are you planning on following up on these towns at the end of the year? isn't there a new state law that says that any revenues collected from tickets by towns gets remitted to the state coffers (if greater than 30% of annual town revenues)?

EXSSIVE aka Jack,

Rocky River has turned into a speed trap on Rt. 90. Over the past year it's become an obsession to the city to catch speeders.

Jim, I will put the Roanoke, TX guys and gals up against any other Radar Trap. They are spending 500K plus to convert an old grogery store into a new Police station out of their spare change. Southlake isn't even in the same league. I have a great story about going to court in Roenoke and paying a $1 fine.
Thx, db

Got home at 2 am and the Italy~Ennis detachment of DPS was out in BIG numbers on my return trip... Probably a good thing as the constant wailing from mister Valentine helped me stay awake
