Source for thin carpet?

Hey folks,

I've been looking for some thin black carpet in Austin and have been having a difficult finding some. Thought I'd ask here because this is the stuff a lot of Cobras use for the interior. Also very commonly used for covering speaker enclosures. So far, I've not found it at some carpet stores, fabric stores, and most audio places say they have it, but won't sell it by itself.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
-Neil.

Try Pep Boys, Track Auto, any of your discount auto supply chains. This stuff comes in rolls, and is generally used for van interiors.

If all else fails, J.C. Whitney.

That being said, an auto upholstry shop will have better carpet for your cars interior if your car mfg doesn't have a carpet set for it.

Score! Never would've thought of trying these places, but just called both AutoZone and Pep Boys and they both carry it. Heading out to go check it out in person.

It's sad when someone in Virginia has to tell me where to get carpet locally in Austin.

Much thanks,
-Neil.

Just got back from Pep Boys and got it. Exactly what I needed. 6' x 9' roll = $25.
BTW, this is not for my Cobra, but I need to cover some cardboard tubes for a trade-show display.

Thanks again,
-Neil.

I think it's phenominal that someone in Virginia (just outside DC) can help someone in Austin, TX find a source for some nutball, but necessary item to do up a project. I needed the same stuff for some finish items on the car. One gets good at this after awhile.

Great forum, isn't it!

Indeed -- this is awesome!
