Anyone want a Cobra?
Hi everyone,
The Vanguard Christian Institute of Boerne Texas is raffling off a Shelby Cobra with a 500hp 428 Cobra Jet and other nice features. This car was built by students of the school and proceeds benefit the school. They (and the car) will be at the big meet in Austin this coming weekend -- definitely on Friday and possibly Saturday. You can meet them there or contact instructor Pat Tracy at 210-316-2186 (vcimrpat@yahoo.com). Tickets are $30 each or 4 for $100, and the raffle will be drawn at the end of next month. Cheers, -Neil. |
Do they have a web link???

How many total tickets will be sold? Do you have to be present to win? Where do you purchase tickets?
:D --Mike |
I'm not sure how many tickets will be sold but I bought tickets last summer. They have been selling them a while. Even though, it would be nice to pick up a Cobra for a couple of raffle tickets......somebody is going to win.

Sounds like fun. Can you post the specifics on the car? Manufacturer? Color?

Nice work Mike
That site explains alot. Wish I knew if there was a set amount of tickets to be sold. You just have to consider it a worthy donation, winning would be a very BIG bonus. Dave |
Hey Dave,
I'm glad I found it! Now I can win the Cobra at that raffle and then win the other one in Nevada in May. :D Life is going to be sweet with three Cobras. :JEKYLHYDE :D --Mike |
Howdy,
Other that what you've already found, I don't have much additional info. Pat was not aware of Club Cobra, so I posted this for him, and sent him an email yesterday so hoping he chimes in with some answers for ya'll. Cheers, -Neil. |
I'm pat tracy @ vanguard .
My highschool class built the cobra kit car. It is a lone star classsic kit. Farri red in honor of Shelby's victory in his glory days. There is no set limit on the tickets we are selling. All proceeds will benefit our highschool shop program. The raffle will be held on April 30th at the town square in Boerne@ 4:00 p.m. You can reach me @ (210)- 316- 2186. |
cobra raffle
Hi,
Pat again. Sorry about the misspell. It was supposed to be ferrari red. It took our class two school years to complete the car, and We have had a blast doing it. We even got the opportunity to meet and talk to at length to Mr. Shelby himself. It was a day I'll never forget. Some of the boys and I have been doing car shows around the area and we have had great feedback. It has a 428 cobra jet, 5- speed tremic transmission, 4-wheel disk brakes, with adjustable suspension. We hope to sell enough tickets to recoup the cost and continue doing more projets like this for the program. |
Hotel Parking Space
We will have an area available for you in the Marriott parking lot.

Cobra Raffle
Hi. I am one of the students that built the 1966 cobra kit car. Istumbled onto your website and read your posts. Neil, thank you for your interest in our car. This is a really neat car, I've never driven it, but, I have ridden in it a couple of times, and dang, it is cool. Thank you for inviting us down to your event, it was a great experience seeing all those Cobra's there and talking to the owners, and getting the feeling of actually owning one of those incredible pieces of history. The other guys and I had so much fun sharing "war" stories of building the car and all the mishaps that ensued. Thank you again for all your help in promoting our shop program and school.

Wish I was at School again
Pat, John
You guys are very lucky to be able to build such a car during school. Damn good teacher you have there. I was only able to build a gear box and do a few small things when at school. Good luck with the raffle. I wish I was a shool again. Teachers a better looking also.. Bernie |
Man.............and I thought the baseball bat and birdhouse I built in Shop class were cool (both worked!). If I had a teacher that allowed us to build a COBRA, I would have spent more time in school and less time ditching classes!
Looks like a nice car fellas - great job! Best of luck in the raffle! |
Just an FYI. The raffle had a winner in Texas:
