Leaving the board....
Sorry about "huckstering" shows on this board, as it was put in my exotic car bikini thread. I know many of you do not know me, but I feel it was a little harsh to close the thread. I was simply trying to provide an automotive event, specified towards exotics, like Cobras, Ferraris, Lamborghini, Lotus, etc... allowing you to take advantage of some free pictures with bikini models and getting to know others in the local car scene here in Austin. I have set up 2 sponsored local car shows here in Austin benefiting the Childrens Hospital of Austin (XO car show & the Bright Smiles Car Show) and I'm a rugular at the Oak Hill Car Show on saturday evenings. I also attend other charity car shows and general car shows annualy during the season with my red Lamborghini Countach replica. I have met a few of you on this board out at shows and my boss here at Intel has just reciently started a buisness building Shelby Cobra replicas in Austin. During this buisness startup, I directed him specifically to this board for networking, since I see a few cobra regulars at the shows and they seem to be members here.
No, I don't own a Cobra replica nor do I post on the board regularly. But when I set up a local car show / event or know of one that members may enjoy, I post it for the Austin members. Sorry for wasting anybody's time, but I felt it was necessary to post about myself and why I feel the actions taken against my thread were a little rude. Because of this, I will no longer post on this board or direct any of my fellow car enthousiast to the board. I doubt any of you will care, but this could have taken care of in a more mature manor. -Paul Daniels -FROG- |

You can stay or you can go... No one is asking you to leave; we are just limiting spam, in this case. No hard feelings.... really |
Ron...Spam? Huckstering? I think you were a little quick on the censor button. I didn't see any reference to selling anything. I don't know this guy either, but your comments justifying closing the thread DID seem a little harsh and unwarranted. Is there something I'm missing?
|
I had a look at the post - and having headings like //////// Show this and that \\\\\\\\\ does look like half of the spam I get these days. Also - it was a fairly orchestrated add.
However - dont feel disheartened - stay on and join in, maybe just change the style slightly? |
Paul,
The job of a moderator on any online forum is a thankless one. No matter what is done (leaving a thread open in this case closing it), your bound to make someone unhappy. As it sits, I have not read the thread in question, however, I do know that Ron (Computerworks) is one of the most fair moderators on any of the web based forums I belong (and moderate) to. As he has stated, it's your choice to stay or to go, nobody else can decide that for you..........As theynow say, the ball is in your court. Sincerely, Bill S. |
Paul
I personally don't think it was any worst than the thong forum which was sort of directed to a certain person which could had easily been taken the wrong way if it wasn't for that person to have fun with it . Maybe you could have directed it by just putting a htm, but other than that you keep up the good work the children's hospital is the most important thing and if takes a few bikinis to bring the people in , thats better. There was plenty of people looking   .I build tons of show cars and I will let them know .I myself am still working on my own .At least let us know where to go for info and then its our own fault for looking   Big T Good Luck |
I do not know either of these two but I do know that Ron is more than fair when it comes to closing threads.
If the site contained something that captured our email adresses for spamming then I am all for shutting it down. I am not saying that it did so don't crawl my backside. If Ron shut down the thread it's dead guys, let it go. If Frog wants to stay he is welcome to, if he goes that is his choice as well. Move on. I know I did not want to post anything on that thread becuase i did not want any trouble to come from it in the future. This is a very public web site and sometimes we forget that. Frog ...... No one is telling you to leave, quit making a big deal over it and lets talk cobras. You are welcome here as are most others. You may not have been around long enough to know that some memebrs have been banned from posting anything at all on the site, forever. Some have been banned for years at a time. Get better and come on back. just my .02 |
Paul please stay on. You so seem to be a sincere, good intentioned gearhead. After Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction I think people are just trying to be careful.
I just finished my car but pics with a model sound pretty cool. I just e-mailed a group called showcars4kids.com to offer my cobra for rides for kids. Seriously give us a second chance. What brand cobra is your boss building? |

Paul (-FROG-)...
...and to the other members of TCC forum, where the original post was made... There was nothing sinister about FROG's post... it was a simple moderation based on a quick assessment of what the facts showed. He made a foot-long post with a half-dozen hot links to pictures of models (girls, not cars :) )... he was promoting a "bad ass car show". A quick check of his history showed less than a dozen prior posts, all promoting car shows... some with banner ads, promoting the sale of his DVD, of pictures taken at, what I presume, is other past "bad ass car shows." So...it got zapped. There really was little history of any interaction, other than promotion. Frankly we delete at least several posts a month that meet the same criteria... those that are clearly being posted on every car forum on earth...simple as that. No hard feelings, no bad foul ...just keeping the commercial billboards off the forum. Paul... if your shows are indeed charity-oriented and not pure commercialism.. give it another shot... have some Cobra-related dialog with the TCC members in Austin.... post it simply as an up-coming event... OK? Thanks Ron ClubCobra Moderator |
Ron is "more than fair and balanced". If he terminated a thread, it was for a good reason. There is nobody on the Forum that is more even handed than Ron. We are lucky to have him as our Moderator.

Tony, Sounds like I must be slipping and need to try harder.:D I have only been on this website for a little more than 3 years and have never seen Ron be anything but fair. P.S. Tony, give Wyatt my best wishes for him. |
O.K.... maybe I was a little offended and got upset. I do not own a Cobra, so I don't feel I can really contribute to the board unless it's setting up an event where it would be nice to have some local Cobra's join us. I won't tuck my tail and run, since I see things more from Ron's point of view now and you guys must be getting tired of spam. I promise that I have nothing to do with spam though, just trying to generate interest in events. I am a regular on about 6 message forums a day so I see alot of stuff going on and I took it a little harsh when I was made out to be one of the bad guys, although that is not what Ron's intentions are. Ron, I apologize for making alot of drama out of this. I see you are a man of good character. Guys, thanks for the feedback. -Paul
Mike Shay, I am good friends with Mike Marr "Showcars for Kids" and I try to attend his events as much as possible. He too has a heart for children and does alot of work for them. Hats off to Mike! Shoot me an email and we can discuss your Cobra more. I would like to meet you sometime and I can get you some information about the bikini shoot too. Also, do you attend the 1431 meets? It's in your area. paul@exoticcarsgonewild.com |
Frog, Once you get a Cobra, your self esteem will rise immeasurably and you will not be so easily offended. You will learn like to rest of us here to not give a rats ass about what anyone else thinks about you.
Uh,. I hope this helps, . . Uh, . . .I hope I didn't hurt your feelings. Ed |
Posts & Moderators
I did not see Paul's thread or it's content before it was removed.
Last year when I was the TCC moderator Paul posted his usual car show threads with ///////// and \\\\\\\\\. I believe Paul was using them as flags to call attention to his thread. I edited his thread and removed the flags in order to reduce his topic title so it would conform to the rest of the forum's threads. As for his thread content, Paul always attached links to his car show threads. His links were all car related so I allowed his post to be active. Being a ex-TCC moderator I can relate to this problem. You have to be sensitive to the Forum and the member's posts. Ron did what he thought was right, and Paul was only flagging his post to call attention. I hope that Paul will continue to post our forum in the future. |

Froggy,
Perhaps this might help: Una salus victis nullam sperare salutem, so keep courage. |
Computerworks,
Couldn't you have just edited his post, taking out all the advertisements, and leave in the pictures of the girls? |
Well dang it, I've searched high and low for the "suspect thread", I guess it's been totally demolished.
Any chance of posting a link to this "bad boy" with the potential for "good girls"? Sounds like Frog was onto something..... |

Glad you decided to hang around awhile longer. You may not know this but most of the members on CC do not own cobras at all. Some never have, some are looking for one now, and like myself some are in between cars right now. One thing we have all said from the very beginning of this club: It is about the people; NOT the cars. You should post more here, other than just car show related threads and more of us might recognize you better! Ron has a thankless job that NO ONE else wants. He gets no glory and all the chewing out. It really isn't fair for us to judge him poorly on a job he is doing for free, just to help us out. I know I would not do that job for nothing. I remember Brent asked me to one year, I very politly said, HEEEELLLLLL NO! Happy correspondance, |
