Austin, TX area members?

Hello folks,

I've been planning a Cobra build off and on for a while, but had put my FFR project plans on the back burner two years ago during my move from North Carolina to Austin, TX. Since my move, I've stabilized myself well enough to look at putting something together, and now have my business as a motivation/excuse to build something that will be both enjoyable as well as a promotional benefit.

With that said, I'd like to meet some of the fine folks in the Austin area, as well as other parts of TX to talk about things I should be aware of with regards to licensing, lessons learned, as well as make some new friends with a similar passion for automotive performance.

The hook? I sell engine and chassis dynos for a living (Dyno Dynamics) and would be happy to show a dyno and do some pro-bono testing with some of my new found friends. Part of the benefit of my line of work is having the tools at my disposal to be able to tell you just how much of your car's potential you have aceived. I enjoy sharing these tools from time to time to let people see just what you can do with these machines, and deliver the ego-bending truth of how good/bad a vehicle operates along with the guidance of what to do next to make it better.

Anyway, if there are any Austin area folks that would be interested in getting together for a meet-n-greet, let me know. It'd be fun to get together for lunch sometime, and play with cars on the dyno (perhaps do an open house?) now that the weather seems to be nice every day. I'd like some help in convincing my wife (a Miata driver) that we should build a Cobra-replica promotional car. Putting her in a built car for a little ride would do big things to forward my cause.

So, hope to hear from some of you soon!

Sincerely,

Brian Kennedy

Nice Austin hospitality - putting him to work at his first meeting. In Dallas we usually aim for a nice meal with maybe a beer or two.

Why Not!

With the slow or little turnout here in Austin, we'll take them any way we can.  %/ ;) **) :p

Hey Brian,

First, welcome to TTC and Club Cobra. Why not bring a dyno to the annual meeting in Austin, March 23 -26th, for dyno pulls by anyone attending wanting to do so? No better way to promote your product amongst the Texas Cobra owners.

:D :D :D

There's an idea. . . . . I'd need to find out more about the event, facilities, power availability, etc. Who do I need to talk to about this stuff? I'd like to meet the local folks and maybe play with the dyno for a few hours. I'll warn you, though. . . . this dyno is as much a heart breaker as hero maker. There's nothing wrong with knowing how much your car really puts to the ground, and very few of us really have a 500 HP small block!

That engine, in a Cobra. . . . would be a seriously frightening ride. That same car tests at over 600 RWHP on a DJ. All that from a 302 based SBF.

Can you say "Holy white knuckles and soggy britches, Batman!!!" ??????

FFR called this week to let me know my kit will be ready to ship July 1. I'm hoping that a short time later, I'll have a truck with some new toys showing up at the shop. If any Austin area guys are interested in getting together for lunch on or around that date, let me know. I'd like to meet some of the other builders around here and break the ice a little bit.

Any takers?

July 1st I will be conducting the 5th Annual Open Car Show in Llano. I really want to see your car and compare with my MKII. Maybe I shouldn't, then I will want a new MKIII

Feel free to call me sometime and we'll get together. Right now, I'm not sure if I'm going to the shop with this stuff, or the garage at home. Give me a call though, and we'll get together for lunch and to BS a bit if for no other reason.

FFR Roadster has arrived

For those of you who indicated that they'd like to know when it got here, consider yourself told. :)

There are pictures from the delivery day. Now all I've gotta do is find some time to get started on it.
